Early reports rolling in, reporting Caroline Flack (40) has been found dead in her home.
Such a shame. She was no age at all.
ITV didn't treat her the same way they did Ant when his scandal went down. Nothing happened to Ant, no disciplinary measures. On top of this, the media ripped her to shreads, I'm sure they'll change their tune for a week now.
A little lost for words really. I grew up watching her, and still did watching Love Island.

Did they though? Ant took time away to sort himself out, they held his job for him. They did the same for Caroline. she was never sacked.

Of course he is, vile man. There is so much hypocrisy on social media today. Also apparently the Sun have deleted all negative stories about her from their site
I don't think the blame can be layed at ITV's door. They didnt sack her, offered her support which she publicly acknowledged that she turned down.
It's a very sad and tragic end for a troubled person

Taking myself out of retirement for this news.
I am very sad to read this. I do believe she deserved to stand trial, just not by media, tabloid or social.
Her friends and family must be devastated and I can’t help thinking about them. I particularly hope her boyfriend has plenty of support right now.
Mental health is a serious issue nowadays (well it seems to be more-so than in the past, although it may just be being reported more). Personally, I know how places like this and social media can exacerbate mental health problems (hence my break). I do believe that the media really got people riled up against Caroline (as I said it was right that she was going to court). The tabloids just seem to make people angry, and look down on people. I hoped that The Jeremy Kyle Show being cancelled was the beginning of a change but it seems it didn’t happen quickly enough.
I’ve noticed the media (papers and Sky News) are trying to point the finger at Love Island rather than looking at themselves, which someone has already said. Let’s not let them get away scot-free.

This is really sad news. I've not followed Caroline's career, and have never seen a single episode of Love Island, but it was hard to avoid the recent media coverage, or see some of the nastiness on social media directed towards her. The tabloids wrote whatever they wanted, people took it at face value, and social media went for her.
I do, however, follow the career of Sheridan Smith, and I can't help but draw some parallels with the way the media treat her, with their bullying and disdain for her mental health. There have also been some unkind comments on this board about her, following rumours and things people have read about her in the tabloids!
I would like to think that something in the media will change and that people will learn from this, but I'm not hopeful. It will be forgotten in a few weeks and the tabloids will continue to do what they've always done to sell papers.

How truly awful and incredibly sad that she felt there was no other alternative to escape. The press and social media have tormented and hounded her, but how that has all changed as her death has been announced. Some websites have deleted the old pages where they slated her so they can write about the "heartbreaking" news. The press are so two-faced and false.
My thoughts are with Caroline's family and friends - this is just horrific for them.

Very, very sad and I can't lie the whole thing is setting off my 'narc' alarm a little, especially considering he has still been contacting her via social media despite being court ordered not to.

Yes it is so sad that a life has to end this way. A sad reflection on how media and social media in particular can have such a negative effect. No one knows what is going on in someone else's mind but such a shame that Caroline felt she had no way out but this. Rest in Peace.

This is truly horrendous. I have nothing much to add, I can only echo what everybody else has said, only that the abhorrent press and the toxicity of social media is almost entirely to blame. People suck.
Rest in peace, Caroline. And in the nicest, most PG way, Dan Slimeball Wootton can go sling his hook. Can't stand his stupid smug face.

Awful news. I wasn't a massive follower of Caroline's work, but this has hit really hard. I don't have the words really. I'm just massively upset that she thought of this as her only escape.

Really sad. Didn’t follow that much of her career but loved her on Strictly. Amazing dancer and really warm personality. Hope she’s in a better place now.

There's a lot of talk now about the pressure and social media bullying, but nothing will change will it? It's the people who already know better saying these things, the dickheads will think it's nothing to do with them and still be dickheads.
She seems to have a lot of friends and people who care about it, it's so tragic that it came to this.

She seems to have a lot of friends and people who care about it, it's so tragic that it came to this. They think it’s okay because they see people similar to them in the media getting away with it. Starting to prosecute journalists* and editors would go some way to changing the culture. Start at the top. We have a major problem brewing in the West with such a large volume of hate coming from figures of authority, seen in the rise of such as Trump, Orban, Salvini, Le Pen etc. What the powerful do and say affects what the rest of the population do and say. It goes the other way, of course, in that people like that are helped into power through the hatred of such people but that symbiotic relationship is growing in influence. Look back through history and it never ends well. I’d never heard of her until the trial was plastered all over the news, as I’m not a fan of ‘reality’ television. Why was this important when similar crimes don’t even merit a footnote in a local paper? * It should be noted that we are now being governed by a journalist whose loose relationship with the truth has long been obvious. ‘A fish rots from the head down’.

Caroline Flack's death was undeniably tragic. She clearly had some serious issues that she was unable or unwilling to address, and to feel that suicide is the only solution is just desperately sad.
Having said the above, I'm finding all the hysteria and blame game playing going on frankly bizarre. It seems everyone from the media to the CPS has been blamed for what happened to Caroline. Now the Z-listers are crawling out of the woodwork, setting up petitions to demand the media be banned from writing negative stories about them - no doubt these same Z-listers will still be selling stories to the media, while bleating about being treated badly by the people/organisations paying them for their stories! You really couldn't make it up!

Absolutely; you can’t court media controversy one minute then bleat harassment the next (I’m looking at you Rebecca Vardy). Our culture seems to revolve around the popularity of vacuous surface rather than anything of moral substance at the moment. The second that Ms Flack started being reported like one of her Love Island contestants was the turning point I fear. The whole media needs a reset. Maybe this will spark something, although I doubt it.

Would anyone mind if I changed the thread title to “Caroline Flack has died”? I know the OP’s original title is factually correct but it sounds very cold stating it like that. There absolutely will be people reading this forum who knew Caroline in some capacity or another.

I have to say that I have had a real feeling of dull sadness since hearing this news yesterday. I can't stop thinking about her. She was beautiful. It came 24 hours after hearing of a similarly awful scenario near to me and the two combined have just been unspeakably tragic.
