Argh I'm so torn because I really like Lee Mack and would quite like to see this, but I really don't agree with Frances Barber's views.

Not so very good play, made worse with bringing back the most problematic cast member.
What were they thinking?

...be a very different energy with Lee Mack The male lead character needs to be played straight. I fear Lee, who I rate, will break the fourth wall or clown around. Hopefully not.

I already went in its last run as I'm a fan of Reece Shersmith and didn't know who Frances Barber was. It's just not a good play and hiring someone like that again for another run is vile. Good thing is she doesn't have to act as she is essentially playing herself.

Adding my name to the list of people who won't be going while Barber is in it.

Lee the actor is not the same as Lee the comedian. I do think people are getting a bit hyperbolic, the show sold well last time because of Steven Moffat.

Is it the only job she can get now? And flip, what a job…

The few parts of this I enjoyed when I saw it in Chichester were entirely down to Reece Shearsmith.

Wanted to see this on its return as I had assumed an all new cast, but count me out again...

Sarah Alexander makes this very appealing now.

With the greatest of respect, Lee Mack is nowhere near the comic actor Reece Shearsmith is. Farce like this needs a very specific concentrated energy and intensity, which Reece did perfectly.

Mack was good in The Miser at the Garrick in 2017, so he may be able to pull this off. I agree it needs more than just his Not Going Out performance.

A reminder: People can go to her socials and find out for themselves what Frances Barber believes. I don’t think it’s necessary to read it here as interpreted by other people. Let’s get back to discussing the play please. A further and third reminder.

I hadn't seen this first time round as I was appalled by the prices - bearing in mind I knew nothing about the play.
But got in today for £35 at the back of the stall which is a very reasonable price.
Good comedy, very funny in parts, and I can see why it's been so successful, although it feels strangely old-fashioned in a way. Great performance by Frances Barber. Chapeau.

Saw this on a TodayTix ticket, I don't usually do plays but I really enjoyed this, both because of the story and the actors (which kind of hooked me in)
Agree that Frances Barber is brilliant, as was Nick Sampson as the neighbour.

Why isn’t this showing a performance on 7th March? I want to go to this on the 7th matinee. Shame.
