Have they mentioned the final few performances which might (in an I admit highly optimistic world) be after lockdown? Not from what I could see. Can’t see that being viable. You’d have to pay the cast a retainer presumably? if everybody who was due to see it agreed to convert their ticket to streaming then HM could come out of this ok financially. Better off even. I assume they’ll be offering that. would that be allowed, after the previous post saying they were only allowed a limited number of streaming tickets to cover lost capacity?

I wish they would be allowed to stream internationally. So many more Rent fans would be able to tune in AND for them to earn some more money.

I don’t really understand that. I posted upthread that I assumed it was a bit of encouragement to push sales. Why would they be limited? Rights issues? If so that would presumably be the reason that can’t stream it internationally which is a terrible shame under current circumstances.

Have they confirmed that the stream won't be available internationally? I saw the theatre reply on Twitter to a few complaints regarding how the stream's hours aren't exactly great for those overseas and they never said that it was only available in the UK.
If someone has shared some sort of confirmation of this, I must've missed it (my bad, if so!)

I believe I saw some tweets from the HMT saying it's due to rights. E.g. they can only do a certain number of livestreamed performances and limit the capacity of them. Licensing can be a bit weird in that regard.

I do understand that it could get really out of control if theatres were streaming recorded productions all over the country/world and the impact that might have on sales of tix for live productions. But seeing as there are no live productions at the moment.. I know it’s legally very complicated but it seems mad that you can’t sell product to people who want to buy it.

If someone has shared some sort of confirmation of this, I must've missed it (my bad, if so!) Yes, I can confirm - I tried to book it from abroad and my credit card was rejected. The sad thing for Hope Mill is that the stream will be recorded and shared internationally anyway, so people will watch it but the theatre won't benefit from it. Right holders really need to accept that the internet has made classic rights restrictions impossible. When I get hold of it, I will donate the equivalent of the streaming ticket to Hope Mill and I hope other foreigners will do the same, but still...

I feel like with the platform they have for the streaming they’ll somehow incorporate Netflix/Disney+ style copyright protection that prevents it from being screen recorded.

That won't stop anyone... all the Netflix/Disney+ stuff is readily available online as are ALL the streams of recent months such as the NT Live streams.

I'm in Portugal and I managed to book tickets for two different dates (although it's the same performance). A friend of mine from The Netherlands got tickets as well, I believe. Could it be that the website is rejecting some credit cards?

Hmm, that's very odd indeed - I mean I've booked countless tickets in the UK before and my credit card was never rejected, so I figured it was because they detected it was a foreign card. I may try again in that case... it was very early on, so maybe they changed things in the meantime?

Nope, tried again from two different browsers, it just won't accept my payment Edit: Tried with another credit card, now it worked - no idea why they had a problem accepting my regular one. I feel a bit like chasing someone around the block with a bundle of banknotes in my hand, shouting "Please take my money"

Just received an email from HM outlining possible options for the cancelled performances -
OPTION 1)
A direct transfer to online broadcast GALA NIGHT on Friday 27th November, donating the cost difference to Hope Mill Theatre. Access to RENT Online, Exclusive Q&A and RENT Party Pack.
OPTION 2)
A direct transfer to online broadcast of a different date, donating the cost difference to Hope Mill Theatre with RENT Party Pack to thank you for your donation. Please specify your chosen date in your response.
OPTION 3)
A direct transfer to online broadcast, receiving a refund of the cost difference.
OPTION 4)
A full refund.
Going for option 2 myself as it allows for a weekend viewing.

with RENT Party Pack to thank you for your donation Considering this is RENT and they're sending a Party Pack, I'm slightly worried about what's going to be arriving through the post!

Opting for option 1. Very lovely of Hope Mill to offer all these options within such a short amount of time - ATG take note!

I’ve just booked my tickets for the online show on the 28th at 7.30. A bit pricey for online but I’ve not booked anything else that was online, and it’s good to know my money will help the theatre and cast.

First time buying from the Hope Mill so unsure of its history, it's come up on my bank as The Factory of Creativity which confused me. Did it used to be known as that, or?

For... reasons, 'Hope Mill' is now a charity, and 'The Factory of Creativity' is what the charity is called. The charity change is relatively new (maybe a year ago???)
