One ticketing site has this on it: Martin Guerre Ticket Information Opens: Tuesday,15 October 2024 Booking until: Sunday,25 May 2025 Despite it saying at the top of the page, London theatre to be announced. That seems a bit premature. The latest articles I can find go back a few years saying they were working on a new version. It’s well documented they’ve had lots of difficulties getting a version that completely works and I know Cam Mac walked away from it because he didn’t think, after all these years, he was the right person to get it out of them.

IF those dates are correct, that's quite a long run wherever it ends up. Especially for producing houses.

Have things been developed by the Old Vic but not played it before?

It's not ready.
Old Vic have been workshopping it, getting it into a position where it's ready but it's not there yet so that's not going to be happening on the timeline posted above.
If it happens in the near future it'll be at the Old Vic, and those dates are not Old Vic dates so sorry to get your hopes up but these dates aren't real.

I'd honestly be happy with the original version to come back, I really didn't think it was that problematic.

I preferred the original version ahead of all the others I have scene.
There are moments in the WYP version which I like. But the original (which I saw opening week) still wins as a whole

I was only ever going to use my 2500th post on this forum to put a message on the Martin Guerre thread and thus bump it again to raise the hopes of those with an interest in this show! When will someone hear?

Just spotted on a Facebook page…
The creators Claude-Michel Schonberg and Alain Boublil just announced at the DYHTPS concert in Manila that their other musical creation "Martin Guerre" will be revived in London in 2025 with a reworked book and some new songs.

Reworked book? The story is the story. Fannying around with it constantly is getting to be more tiresome than the eventual Oasis reunion! By the time they actually get around to it nobody will be arsed. I just want to hear that (original!!!) score played by a good sized orchestra & appropriate casting (Jaden’s Arnaud might be nice).

The problems with this show seem over exaggerated to be honest. I can see it has its faults, but the way they talk about it needing so much work you would think it was Opening Night or something.
They could have revived the original version somewhere like the Menier and it would likely sell well. I'm sure there are plenty of creatives who would like to try it.

I love this earthy show but always felt they give away the big reveal way too early.

The basic story is too well known for it to be possible to create tension about the secret
Better to establish how Arnaud came to pretend to be Martin and then make the drama about how he is exposed.

Spotted on a Facebook page… Ok. To be fair, it's how people found out about the fact they were reviving an older work, La Revolution Francaise. They just seem to randomly say things at concerts. Will wait until maybe some more concrete info though
