At the moment I am not in the UK and I have a question to the people in the UK. Last year, supermarket chain "Lidl" introduced a new line of skincare products in many European countries. www.getthegloss.com/news/lidl-launches-hyaluronic-skincare-beauty-dupeI have bought the "Cien Hydro Expert Creme Gel", which was amazing. It contains hyaluronic acid and it is the beste creme I have ever used. And it was very cheap. When it was almost empty I wanted to buy a new one but none of the Lidl locations had it anymore. It seemed like a temporary thing. There is no contact information available at all, not of the distribution centre and when you call the Lidl headquarters they have no idea and even the company "Cien" doesn't seem to exist or have any contact info or information online. Now I saw an online advert this year (from august I think) where they were presenting the same product line in Lidl supermarkets in the UK. My question is, do the Lidls in the UK have this products or are they nowhere to be found either? |

Thanks BurlyBeaR, Actually, you are right, I'm not  , just use 1 pot of cream and that's it. It's just that this pot was really nice. I see some products of that brand on the site but not this one. |

Are you sure they haven’t changed the name or packaging? The Q10 one in my pic says it has hyaluronic acid in it in the description. Either way for that price it might be worth trying! And if it’s any good report back ‘cos I’m looking v haggard at the mo 😀

And if it’s any good report back ‘cos I’m looking v haggard at the mo 😀 No, it really is the blue/greenish pot with "Cien Hydro Expert Creme gel". The substance is a bit crystalline. The Q10 is a different one, more normal creme but might be worth trying indeed! haha same here, looked kind of rough, tried the creme gel and looked smooth and 15 years younger and it lasted for 3 days, powerful stuff. I think it holds 1000 times its own weight in water or something so that makes it work so well. I would have expected more people to notice this and asking for this product. They did present this aqua line in Lidl UK advertisements a few months ago, but nothing on when, for how long etc. Ps. The aqua gel does nothing, it's the creme gel that has this effect. Bought both, big difference. The hydro expert aqua gel is a normal creme and the hydro expert creme gel is crystalline and not creme. Confusing but true. |

If you like hyaluronic acid, you might like to take a look at The Ordinary brand from Deciem. They do a great hyaluronic serum for a fiver, and the Moisturising Factors with HA cream is great (also a fiver.)
Available online, via ASOS and they have a few shops in London.
Bit more spendy, but the Formula Absolute night cream from M&S is completely mind-boggling to effective for the price (£23).

Going off topic, but it weirds me out a little that people are suspicious of anything "chemical" in their food ("Ascorbic acid? What's that? Sounds dodgy") but when it comes to cosmetics and toiletries it's a matter of "I don't know what ammonium lauryl sulphate is but it must be good for me or they wouldn't mention it".

I'm fascinated by this thread and not least - sorry, some awful stereotyping coming - by the fact that most of the participants are male. No reason why men shouldn't look after themselves, including their appearance, but I don't even know any women who discuss face creams. However, always keen to pick up potentially useful tips and having plenty of wrinkles on which to test products (it's all that walking, though I've always worn high-factor sunscreen), I scoured the shelves of my neareast Lidl today and bought the item (actually a serum) which most closely matched the one mentioned. Retinol A cream has certainly done nothing for me and hyaluronic acid was next on my list anyway, so thank you all for the nudge.

How typically too kind of you, BurlyBeaR. Ludicrous as this is, I actually scrutinised my complexion in the mirror this morning for signs of any improvement - as if any product could act so swiftly, if at all. Seems I'm not too old to fall for some hype! At least the Lidl serum smells less obnoxious than the retinol cream; if only there was a way to check for "fragrance" before buying but most of these products are of course sealed. The times I've bought something such as sunscreen or moisturiser, only to be almost asphyxiated by the smell. No doubt added to disguise something worse (chemical components?), but a waste of money if the customer is then too nauseated to use the product and "fragrance free" versions are rarely available. |

Well, gentlemen, I never expected to take skincare advice from a chap (though I see some of you are far more familiar with the subject than I), let alone to find myself saying "thank you" for it, but Dave25 , I am hugely grateful to you as if ever there was such a thing as a miracle cream, this is it, for me at least. I was so impressed this morning with the effect of a single application of the Lidl serum yesterday evening that I went back today to buy some more, while I still could. Multi-tasking as usual, I took a circuitous route and had a nice long walk, with the option to visit the second-nearest branch if the first one had run out but no, I was still in luck so I stocked up. My rucksack was horribly heavy for the rest of the walk as I usually leave shopping until the end for that reason, but it should be worth it. As good as a face lift and for only £2.99 - wow! |

It really has, as it says it will, reduced the appearance of fine lines - and I have hundreds of those, from all the time outdoors walking in the sun. Plus it has had that plumping effect others have mentioned. Of course the fact that the fine lines are less noticeable means the larger lines seem more prominent but maybe Lidl will introduce a product for those idc...

I do have a photo (albeit on my phone, because I was so excited about this product that I wanted to show my sister), but I have no idea how to get it onto here. Can anyone more technically proficient advise, please? |

Just checked my local for you, but couldn't see any of the ones you have there in your post. I did see (and purchased) a serum which I presume is the one Showgirl also purchased. It's Cien brand, but not under the 'Hydro Expert' label...will see how it goes lol I have tried the Boots version and got decent results and this is a 3 times bigger bottle for a fraction of the cost, so whatever it does is fine by me for £2.99. Unless of course all my skin falls off  |

It is indeed, Dave25 - you've saved me a job, too, posting your own pic. Shame the 50 ml content is in a heavy glass bottle and boxed (suppose they're avoiding plastic but this means lots of bulky & wasteful packaging), but the product inside is worth the proverbial weight in gold to me! Another bonus is that though I've always resisted serums as they've looked thin, barely visible and difficult to apply evenly, this, as shown, is more like a pale cream and goes on very easily. I wouldn't describe it as a serum at all, actually. |

Another male skincare fan here, for all my sins. (And there were many sins throughout my twenties, hence the interest in skincare in my thirties!)
I haven't tried the Lidl products but heard excellent reviews.
I'm OBSESSED with The Ordinary products though. So cheap and so, so good. I have very dry, tired itchy eyes and their caffeine eye serum has absolutely changed my life. I fly for a living, so am in and out of air conditioning all the time, spend many nights out of bed etc, and this stuff makes my eyes feel hydrated and look much more awake. It's the only product that's ever had an effect on my dark circles. My itchy eyes seem to be a thing of the past too.
Their Hyaluronic acid serum is excellent and the Mositurising Factors moisturiser is great too, though I still prefer Elemis Pro Collagen Marine Cream as a moisturiser. That's 80 quid a pot though, so it's not really viable.
My other favourite product is Alpha H Liquid Gold which I use twice a week before bed. It's glycolic acid which is a strong exfoliant and you wake up feeling and looking like you've had a facial. I got into it after seeing first hand how it changed a friend's face over the course of a year. It took years off her! I've seen The Ordinary have their own glycolic product as well that I will try when my Liquid Gold runs out.
