They are right. London´s biggest pit bands are Wicked and Lion King, each with 17 players. Dolly will have 21.
The last large orchestra we had was actually My Fair Lady at the Coli. 35 players. If only it had sounded as well... Someone working at ENO told me the American team forced them to microphone and mix the instruments although it sounded better with no amplification. ENO was very unhappy with the sound.

And I’m not surprised. Given the potential, with that many players, and how incredible Sunset had sounded in there, I couldn’t help but be disappointed by MFL.

ENO was very unhappy with the sound. They weren't the only ones! Was wondering what on earth happened with that. Really let down what should have been a gorgeous production. Loved it at Lincoln Center, loved it on the subsequent tour, but that Coliseum run in between was almost impossible to hear properly in most spots of the house.

This instagram clip sounds glorious. My £20 front row seat already feels like a bargain.

I think what the poster means is that's not the audio being heard in the room - that's a professional recording of another production played over the top, but the video was of the Sitzprobe

Thats a bit naughty isn't it and seems a lot of effort when they could have just recorded the Sitzprobe and put that online.

Have the cast been allowed to put the real sitzprobe on Instas do we know? Would love to hear what the actual orchestra will sound like.

Usually not allowed/are told to put videos with no sound on or a different track over the top like the official video has

The orchestrations are new, so they´re most likely trying to not get them leaked until the show opens.

I was hoping they'd do a set get in time lapse so we could get a peak at the set. That's the bit that concerns me most from this creative team

Take pictures (if allowed, before or after the show, of course) if you are in the first row please 😂

I'm surprised they've not released an image of Imelda as Dolly to celebrate first preview and drum up some buzz.
Their campaign so far has been quite lacklustre

Stage looks pretty low - and because of the pit, there's wide gap between front row and the stage. The extreme ends of the front row do look more restricted though.

In front row centre section. It’s quite high but set a fair way back. Can’t foresee any issues and I recon the first few seats either side would be fine too!
