Just got back from catching a preview screening with a Q & A afterwards.
Full review to come later- with no spoilers however that was, in a word EPIC!

This might be a stupid question, does it have songs?
And if yes, does anything touch ‘Let It Go?’
Also, and feel free to PM me the answer in case of spoilers, I need to buy my daughter a new costume for when we see it next weekend. Is my hunch that an Anna costume might be exciting, and possibly the argument ‘but she doesn’t have powers!’ get neutralised?

I prefer Elsa's big number in this to Let It Go actually!

I wouldn’t be surprised if Disney has an ad for Frozen the musical before every showing of Frozen

So Frozen II.
Firstly, apologies for my delay in posting this. Unfortunately I was feeling a little poorly yesterday- am better now, thanks in advance for any concerns expressed.
So, I will do my best to explain, without any spoilers to the storyline
This film has a completely look to the first. The first was (unbelievably) six years ago and because of the subject matter- snow, etc- this had a distinctly 'blue' look about this, whereas this has a more Autumnul palet- lots of reds, browns, crimsons.
Every single character from the first film return for this one- in one format or another. There are also a few new characters-large and small. There is also diversity in some of these new characters
In this film the animators have also had to deal with wind, fire and water. A waterhorse inside water!
We get to see a bit of Anna and Elsa's past. There is also more that one reindeer (What! How is this possible?)
Olaf- just brilliant! Some brilliant one-liners. My recommendation is to stay right to the very end, after all of the credits have rolled for a last little bit of Olaf magic!
The songs: Up to the standards of the first. Into The Unkown is the new Let it Go. In the first film as she's singing THAT song Elsa is walking, throwing her arms out. Get ready for that again.
Olaf gets a new song, as does Anna. There is a reprise of Reindeers Are Better Than People and Christof gets a big power ballad. Reminiscent of a 80's power ballad.
In the first film it's Anna who gets frozen into a block of ice. In this film, unbelievably, it Elsa who gets cold and thenIfrozen
As I said, this film is EPIC! Disney have grown a lot of money it.
It's interesting how, despite being CGI animated characters, you feel for them and their plight.
This will be another massive hit!
At the Q & A afterwards it was explained that if this were a Broadway show that the first film would be Act 1, whereas this film would be Act 2.
There, hopefully I've managed to explain enough to tempt you all, but not given anything away.
Go and enjoy it guys!

LOVED IT!
In fairness I’m a sucker for a good Disney movie (can we have Disney+ now please?) but Frozen II seems to break the sequel curse and is on par with the first, if not better.
It opens up the story more so than the first, and whilst it’s still a self contained story I feel there’s still at least one more chapter to tell. Not sure what that is, but Kristof deserves to take centre stage for it.
Into The Unknown is a worthy ‘sequel’ to Let It Go but I’m not sure it’ll grab the public imagination quite as much. Still, with ITU and Show Yourself, Idina Menzel grabs herself two new musical standards.

Into The Unknown is no Let It Go.
All Is Found by Evan Rachel Wood (and the gorgeous folky pop version by the sublime Kacey Musgraves) is my highlight of the soundtrack.

I took Young and Littlest to this today and Littlest in particular really enjoyed it. They decided they wanted to dress as one of the characters to watch it and I let them- when we got there there were quite a few children dressed as Anna, Elsa or with Olaf hoodies on so my little one didn’t really stand out which was good!
I enjoyed the film- not quite as much as the original and I didn’t come it humming any of the tunes like I did last time. But it was a good watch and will probably stand up to the many, many repeat showings we will probably have when it comes out on dvd.

I was in (a suburban) town earlier as a screening emptied out and there were many kids dressed up. It even warmed my cold child hating heart a little.

I went to see Frozen II this morning. Fairly empty (which is why I go on a Sunday morning), but it evidently picks up later in the day because when I left there were quite a few children in costumes and they had an Elsa and an Olaf in the foyer. I didn't like it quite as much as the first film and there were times I felt the film had included too many elements that weren't covered in adequate depth, and in some places there seemed to be callbacks purely for the sake of having callbacks. It had a disjointed feel to it in a way that the first one didn't. A good film, all told, but I can't see it becoming one of my favourites. Also, can we please have some other ways of splitting the party than "This is really dangerous; I must do it alone"? Something being dangerous is precisely when you shouldn't do it alone, not just because there's strength in numbers but also because if it turns out to be more than you can handle then there's a chance that someone will escape so whoever follows you will be better prepared. {Spoiler - click to view} I mean, seriously, Elsa? "I have powers so I must disappear into the distance and leave everyone else behind" is exactly what caused the trouble last time.

There’s a talking snowman in it....

This is being screened in IMAX. Would there be any benefit in seeing it in imax do you think?

The last time I saw an IMAX film the advertisements made me feel queasy. The film itself was fine, but the advertisements were filled with movement to grab the audience's attention and on the larger screen it was too much movement.
There's a notice in the credits for Frozen II saying that it's specially mastered for IMAX but I don't know what that means, and a search around the Internet just turns up loads of marketing bumph about digitally enhancing the sound and picture for the IMAX experience.

I hope that those who have seen the film not only enjoyed it but hung around until the end of the credits for that last little bit of Olaf magic.
