Today being her 87th birthday, I guess Petula is the oldest actress currently appearing in the West End?

Off the top of my head I'd say yes. Diana Payne-Myers who is appearing in An Inspector Calls tour is about 91 but I don't know if the tour will go into the West End.

According to cast tweets, they warmed up to her songs last night and Michael Ball turned up with a birthday cake. I heard some of her fans were singing "happy birthday" outside the stage door.

She really is a living legend. Having met her and seen her many times she is always lovely to fans and doesn't take herself too seriously. She is certainly not a diva!

Diana Myers-Payne isn't in the current An Inspector Calls tour so please discard that comment.

Yes, she was performing at the Royal Variety tonight with Zizi and Charlie. Opened the show then dashed to the Prince Edward.

About time that Petula got made a Dame surely. One would think so. She is a CBE which I think is one below a Dame, but it's a long while coming!!
