Well that was fun! A very clear and uninterrupted stream coming from New York 5 hours behind us! A cool set of nominees this year, biggest I noticed was nothing for JHud, and that Jonathan Groff managed to get in there which I am over the moon about. 3 for Hamilton in the supporting male! Glad that Phillipa managed to get in there, and after all that, I personally really don't think it's a surprise that Hamilton was nominated 16 times - that's the new record now, yes? So no matter what they win, they'll always have the claim! Was also surprised that Disaster! got a look in, good for them!

Even Best Costume Design - the one I was sure Hamilton would never be nominated for. I'm thrilled for Alex Brightman and do hope he wins. And I just realised that I'm in San Francisco when the actual ceremony takes place. Maybe I'll be watching it live  |

Thrilled for Cynthia and the 16(!) Hamilton noms! Will be interesting on the night to see which actor/actress awards it walks away with.
Can't believe Tony darling Audra has been left out of the noms and thought Benjamin Walker would be nominated for American Psycho too.

Another BRILLIANT year for Brits on Broadway, too: Sophie Okonedo, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Es Devlin, Tim Pigott-Smith, Rupert Goold, Richard Goulding, Tom Scutt, Mark Strong, Jonathan Kent, Cynthia Erivo, Julian Fellowes, John Doyle and Finn Ross (OK, Scottish). Anyone else?
And James Corden hosting!

So happy King Charles III was recognised, shame Olivier Chris wasn't nominated, but so happy for Tim Pigott-Smith and Richard Goulding. Thrilled Laurie Metcalf was nominated. She was in my top 5 best leading actress's in a plays this year. Really thought Misery was going to be snubbed. Onto Hamilton... I am so happy Phillipa was nominated. I really doubted that the nomination would happen and I was proven wrong. So happy, she gives such an astonishing performance. Also happy for Lin, Leslie, Daveed, Jonathan and Renée. Would've nominated Anthony Ramos over Christopher Jackson, but that doesn't matter so much. Deserving of all it's nominations, except one which kind of baffled me... set design. The set was pretty basic so kind of surprised it was nominated. Also great Alex Brightman was nominated. Such a great set of nominations! |

Shocked at no Audra or Jennifer Hudson and that Jonathan Groff was nominated. Not that he doesn’t deserve it for what he is doing, but that the role is not really a deserving kind of role. That said, congratulations to Hamilton!
Also, gutted Annaleigh Ashford and and Lesli Margherita were not getting a look in for their respective performances. |

No nomination for Audra did suprise me a bit but mainly because it had become such a common thing for her to be nominated for every role.
Not surprised Jennifer Hudson was left out. In fact this makes the awards more credible for me - she's a celebrity, yes. But from all I've heard her performance simply isn't award worthy (I might be totally wrong but that's the impression I got after talking to people who've seen her in the show).

Wow - so many shows that we've seen in London: The Father, King Charles III, A View from the Bridge, American Psycho, The Color Purple. I'm really happy for Cynthia Erivo and I loved A View from the Bridge and Mark Strong's performance in it. Audra has tweeted that she isn't surprised not to be nominated and is delighted with the list. I think she's great. But she doesn't need another Tony.

The trouble with the Hamilton wins is that, if it wins all of its awards in each category it is nominated in (which I hope it doesn't for some of them as there are other shows that deserve some of the other awards) then it will of won 13 awards which is a new record too. But, with the performance awards, it may not actually be able to win all of the awards expected. I can't see it winning in any of the categories it is nominated in regarding the performances actually, except possibly Featured Actress but I still want Danielle Brooks to win.

The greatness of these performances can't be truly replicated through the cast album. It wont win all of its awards, nor does it deserve to, but at least one actor from Hamilton will take home a Tony (I think it's more likely to be 2-3 though).

You are correct in that I haven't yet seen it, though I have had the offer too this Summer. And I am not going by their performances, as I have said many times before I am sure they are all fantastic and I am not saying they are not at all deserving, in any way shape or form. So please do not think of me making judgements based on just a cast recording. I just wouldn't be surprised, based on what I have heard through word of mouth, reviews, cast recordings, videos etc... if it turned out that...
Danny Burstein wins as he has been nominated many times and lost every time. It will be the Kelli upset from last year, where everyone wants Kristin to win but Kelli wins because she has never won before.
Cynthia or Laura wins as Cynthia has been seen as a lock from the opening night and deservedly so. And Laura has been getting raves for her performance so I wouldn't be surprised if she wins there either.
Renee, again as I have said, is the most likely winner for Featured Actress. I personally would like to see Danielle win but if Hamilton is to win in an Acting category, this is the one it will happen in.
Again, Featured Actor, I don't know truly what will happen.
That is just my opinion based on everything, it is just my opinion. If Hamilton is to lose, it will be in at least two categories for performances in my honest opinion.

I think Renee and Daveed are very likely and leading actor will be either Leslie or Burstein. Although Burstein has been nominated many times, his performance in Fiddler is not as acclaimed as Kelli's in The King and I (nor is the revival itself). It's very subtle and nuanced.
Phillipa, much as I adore her, has no chance but I'm just so happy she got nominated.
