I doubt there's much crossover between board members and Watchmen fans but I thought I'd give it a go and see if anyone else is watching this brilliant TV show. I think it's a really worthy sequel and I'm very intrigued by what's going on so far and can't wait for the mysteries to unravel. I've sorely missed a Lindelof show since The Leftovers finished so it's nice to have that itch finally scratched again.

I absolutely LOVED The Leftovers, though the final season (apart from the amazing finale) was a big letdown.
I am really enjoying Watchmen though, about to watch this weeks ep in a minute!

crossover between board members and Watchmen fans I love the comic and I enjoyed the first episode - which I think managed to have something of the original's flavour - though haven't got round to the rest yet. Another comic book adaptation The End of the F***ing World is back this week so my evenings will be devoted to savouring that for the next few days - the first series is one on my favourite shows ever. |

It’s interesting that Watchmen has ended up with two different follow ups with the TV series and in the comics with Doomsday Clock

The graphic novel is one of my favourite pieces of entertainment ever and I'm loving the tv series so far. Ties into the comics much more frequently and in much more depth than I anticipated (I was under the impression it was a "re-imagining"), which makes me wonder how much of it goes over the heads of anyone not familiar with the comics. I think they've done a great job staying true to the tone and themes of the source material whilst establishing its own identity.

I've just watched episode 3, this is excellent stuff. I'm a huge fan of the original comics, and although it was far from perfect I do have a fondness for the 2009 movie. I too was under the impression this was a re-imagining, and so I'm really glad to be proven wrong. For me this is working really well as a sequel, it definitely feels like the same universe. My husband is really enjoying it too, despite not having read the comics and not being a huge fan of the movie. I like the small clips we've been getting from 'American Hero Story' as a show-within-a-show, it reminds me of the Black Freighter/Under the Red Hood elements of the original which I presume is the intention. I've just seen HBO are hosting a website with material 'written' by Agent Dale Petey ( link) - I haven't read it yet, but it looks like this might add another dimension for those wanting to immerse themselves. Also - Jean Smart is just fabulous in this episode. Can't wait for episode 4! |

Yeah the Peteypedia stuff acts like the exceprts from in-universe materials at the end of each issue of the graphic novel. I think they were being a bit coy about this being a sequel in all the marketing as well for a multitude of reasons I imagine; they didn't want to turn off people who hadn't read the comics, they didn't want to disrespect Alan Moore's convictions any more than they already had, it's set so far in the future that it isn't really a direct sequel anyway. But it's definitely a sequel in the literal sense and I'm really excited about it and getting to see how the Watchmen world has changed. So many interesting things like how phones aren't used out of fear that they'll cause cancer like Dr. Manhattan hence all the pagers. Computers are only just being introduced now as well for the same reason. So Ozymandias really set back the world technologically in some ways with his fear mongering but then there's airships as a result of Nite Owl and other superhero technology so it's like a weird in-between of past and future. |

I wish they'd do Halo Jones. Best left as unfinished perfection on the page, it'd be heartbreaking to see it re-imagined or done badly.. I like Lindelof, looking forward to bingeing Watchmen at some point  |

it'd be heartbreaking to see it re-imagined or done badly.. I know, and the TV/Film is never the book in your head (though LOTR was close), but if an adaptation brings the comic to a wider audience then I'm for it. It's arguably Moore's finest work but feels rather neglected. |

What an episode! I'm excited by how these plot threads are developing (and by how we're getting answers to things pretty quickly or at least further developments that point towards a clear destination). I've been reading a lot of interesting theories on Lady Trieu's plans and certain people being Dr. Manhattan in disguise or having his memories and if any of them come true then this show is going to be incredibly ambitious and insane (and *spoilers* considering this episode featured Jeremy Irons (who I felt sounded noticeably more American this episode) chucking foetuses he fished from crab buckets back into a lake that's saying something)!

If anyone's behind in this show you need to catch up asap. It's definitely the best show on television right now and last night's episode was truly insane. Next week's is looking to be incredible and possibly will rival even International Assasin from The Leftovers as one of TV's best episodes ever (especially if reviewers' initial impressions of the show from the first 6 episodes are to be believed). I'm maybe just a little bit obsessed but I've not been as excited as I am for this week to week for any other show possibly ever.

Wow, what an amazing series this has been - definitely my TV highlight of the year. The style, tone and story made this seem so natural as a sequel, and yet it appears to have remained accessible to viewers without in-depth knowledge of the original.
Every episode felt like a film, with some really exciting methods of storytelling. The 'Nostalgia' episode was stunning, and the penultimate episode was an excellent insight into how Doctor Manhattan experiences everything at once.
I loved all the little details as well, I'm definitely going to buy this when it's released as I'm sure it's one of those things where the viewer sees something new each time.
It's made me want to revisit The Leftovers as well, I really enjoyed the first (2?) series but struggled with the final (3rd?) series and gave up on it... would any of you recommend it?

I like the first 2 Eps and I LOVED the finale (apart from Twin Peaks it is the best final Ep I've ever seen) but some of the storylines in those middle Ep's were just utterly ridiculous and totally derailed the series. I still have 4 Eps of Watchmen to binge, but it is definitely my fave season of television this year. |

Just finished it and it's fantastic! Please don't let Alan Moore-purism put you off (niche maybe, but Radio 5's reviewer is boycotting it and she is really missing out!). I won't do any spoilers here but An Octoroon and Appropriate's Branden Jacobs-Jenkins is on the writing team and if you love his work I think you'll love his.
