"Mrs Alicia Christie maintains a beautiful home, with a clever husband and devoted children. This surely makes her an upstanding society woman...
What would you do to protect your family? Would you lie? Would you pretend to be a completely different person to the one everyone knows? Would you forsake all your beliefs? Would you go to jail? One woman. One crime. One decision."
I'm surprised that no-one has started a thread for this as I know we have some Park Theatre regulars and this has had excellent (4-star) reviews. Slightly odd that the production transferred from the summer season at Frinton; not that there's anything wrong in that, simply that it seems a new source for the Park Theatre. Anyway, it must be selling well enough on word-of-mouth as yesterday's matinee was pretty full and I found it riveting and would recommend it - runs for another week, ie to Saturday 12 October.
Also surprising that I'd never heard of the writer, Lesley Storm, or this play, as it was a major hit in its day and imo deserves to be better known. As a guide to what to expect, the most appropriate comparison which came to my mind was with plays by Maugham or Priestley. On the basis of this one, I'm now wondering whether there are other forgotten gems by Lesley Storm, ripe for rediscovery.

My friends saw this in Frinton and thought it was excellent, especially Abigail Cruttendon. I think this is probably the first ever transfer from Frinton! They did a brilliant production of Me & My Girl there this year too.
