Michelle could be in the same boat as Ashley last year being an American who may not attract so many votes. But Michelle would have the Drag Race fanbase and being over 50 should get support as the oldest female contestant.
Mike had been waiting to go the last few weeks and the axe has finally fell.

I think people overestimate the Drag Race reach. After a year-off last year I wonder how Giovanni feels about being in the dance-off.

As always what is annoying is having lost a decent dancer because of holding on to one that was bound to go the following week. I think Posh Emma as she is called was definitely a loss to the prog.

Saffron & AJ vs Michelle & Gio
Michelle & Gio out
A shame - as Michelle was a class act throughout. Press stories about her this week won't have helped - and certainly doing a nearly footwork free Vogue routine made it harder to keep her in.

As I said, I think people overestimated Michelle’s popularity. For me it’s no great loss.

Shame, I would have liked to see Michelle do more ballroom and tbh she is a better dancer than the comedian bloke who must be very popular indeed.

With Michelle scoring lowest she was always going to be in danger. Saffron being in the bottom two was a shot given her huge Social Media fanbase. Alex and Chris must be getting a lot of public votes from somewhere.

Chris I'm not surprised, Alex I'm a bit more puzzled as to where her vote has come from but then she did seem relatively under marked for the first few weeks so maybe that gave her an underdog status.
Sad about Michelle, it wasn't a great dance and I never thought she'd win but I'd have like to see her go further as she could have given us more good dances than anyone but Kelvin and Karim.
Saffron is the kind of contestant who often struggles for votes on this show so it was just a question if her social media following was watching and voting in big enough numbers and clearly not.
So a Kelvin v Karim v someone else final from the looks of it.

I think that Chris and Karen look like they are having the most fun which is pretty infectious. As for Michelle, I feel she got lost in significance of the dance for her. I have no doubt that it meant a lot to her and good for her for doing it, but the way she talked up the dance and what it meant to her made it sound like we were in for something truly spectacular. Instead she spend 90 seconds walking round the stage waving her arms around, desperately trying to copy Madonna from 1990 but with much less precision. Its a shame because she really can dance but I felt this was by far the weakest performance of the night so on this occasion she was always going to be in trouble.

I was only half watching it, and only saw the walking/vogue bits. I assumed they were doing a free dance? What was it supposed to be?

It was meant to be Street/Commercial, they never actually explained Vogueing, which was part of the problem. Though I still don't consider it dancing.

How was it street commercial when we have seen that style look completely different? And the costume? Whaaat? Badly advised. I would love to have seen Michelle do the Argentine tango with Giovanni.

For the costume and most of the choreography ideas, do a search for Madonna at the MTV music awards in 1990.

Because the genre is Street/Commerical. The / is important. Up until Michelle, every couple who has danced this has done Street or some version of Street. Michelle went for Commercial (any style of dancing you might see in a music video etc.)

Learnt more there, from sophie92, than I have watching Strictly all these years 😳 so thank you. I’m not a fan of the couples choice actually.

The couples choice is such a waste of time. It saddens me that for a lot of people, Strictly is the first time that they will see "street/commercial" or "contemporary" dance and it's never any good. Michelle's dance was one of the best because it was true to the form and correct. The contemporary routines are barely lyrical, let alone contemporary?! I hate that they use the two terms interchangeably. Contemporary and lyrical are very different styles. The same could be said for street/commercial but they are more closely related.

Haven’t seen it yet but sad cos I like how ambitious AJ is and would like to see his show dance. So it is KvK for the final with a token girl ? Alex? Maybe

Karim is too much of a stage school kid for my liking. Kelvin to win!
And AJ going out on a samba again? LOL

Shame, Saffron danced some really beautiful ballroom, which has been sorely lacking this year!
Who on earth is voting for Chris?!

Chris is doing the work, improving every week, but giving the impression that he's not taking it too seriously which plays well with the audience, not just the North East. His surprise when he gets praise seems genuine. I predicted Saffron and Karim for the dance off from Wednesday's rehearsal footage. Her dance didn't fit the song and his was a bit too arty for Strictly and didn't have the clear narrative which made Will's contemporary piece so effective. No surprise at the outcome, and Saffron's ability to bore and irritate me simultaneously will not be missed.

I don't like the couples choice either - it's so random to mark and so difficult to compare to the ballroom and latin dances that have specific criteria to look for and reward in the scoring.
The judges overmark and then the public don't usually support that. The producers have realised that the public don't know quite what to make of the dances, so have insisted everyone brings in a sob story, hoping that will pull in votes. It plays havoc with the scoring. I think that's why Kelvin and Karim both did CC in the same week, and even then we nearly had an upset.

I’ve been thinking and realised that the low score Craig gave to Saffron determined her place at the bottom cos now with fewer people, this is quite critical. So he more or less signalled, dump Saffron. I’m not sure I’m happy with this

Except he gave a lower score to Alex and she didn't go out and Saffron was in the bottom two last week when she was 4th on the leaderboard so didn't seem to have the votes.

It's not a world I know the first thing about, but maybe Saffron's 1.2 million followers all thought *they* should have been one of the dozen selected to watch her and AJ rehearse, and when they weren't, they took their revenge.
That's how social media works, isn't it?
Or maybe it was a backlash against AJ's medallion!

Interesting point with her fanbase I would have thought she'd have got a load of votes and AJ would likely be a more popular pro than a Karen or Neil. Chris and Alex must be picking up a lot of votes from somewhere.
