I've just been sorting some stuff out at home and been reminded of these (we once bought a huge stack of Punch magazines going back to the 30s from a monastery library). Punch's theatre reviews used to include really super illustrations / caricatures by Ronald Searle, and later by William Hewison. I think they capture the essence of those actors/productions better than most still photos of the period, though as far as I know they haven't been collected and republished in the way Searle's regular cartoons have been (if you know otherwise, please point me in its direction!). Many are now online though, and well worth a look.
