Watching it now, but can’t help feeling a bit let down. Thought we were about to get something juicy from you. 😂

I've been avoiding that thread but now I know where to go if I get bored though!

I gave up after episode 1, I’m afraid - thought it was really clunky.
And what with Martin Freeman playing the lead alongside another actor who looked like Mackenzie Crook, I kept expecting Ricky Gervais to turn up with a sidewise look to camera...

Without giving too much away, the real life story about the officer in charge(played by Freeman) and the PACE investigation is incredibly compelling. Joe Absolom is in this and is quite simply wonderful imo. Talking of good serial Drama, also intrigued by a series called Deep Water which is running atm...murky depths indeed!

We’ve been watching ‘Unbelievable’ on Netflix, all about several overlapping rape cases. It has that ‘Broadchurch’ slow burn feel to it and I can just tell that the final episode will be a corker. Toni Collette is quite something in it.

We’ve been watching ‘Unbelievable’ on Netflix, all about several overlapping rape cases. It has that ‘Broadchurch’ slow burn feel to it and I can just tell that the final episode will be a corker. Toni Collette is quite something in it. I'm literally watching this right now (about half way thriygh) and it's very compelling but a hard watch to be sure and so frustrating. The first episode especially. And to then have Duvall in the entire second episode treat their victim with such care and respect only makes the first and subsequent episodes dealing with Marie's situation even more frustrating. Really great acting so far but I always find it hard to watch these kinds of shows where police procedure is abused. It was similar in When They See Us, also on Netflix, but I found that too frustrating to even continue to watch past the first episode and knowing that these are things that actually happened doesn't help. That's why, although in the case of A Confession the procedures laid out hindered the police investigation, these rules are so important, however imperfect they may be, as otherwise they let even more injustices like those in Unbelievable or When They See Us to occur due to the allowance of excessive coercion. The nuance required is just too great for one single set of rules to fully cover.
