I went to the screening last night. Having only previously seen the tour, it was interesting to see this again with a different cast, particularly to see it with the kids in this time!
Think the songs are growing on me. Loved Killian, agree with those above about Lauren.

Saw it last night at The Everyman and it was relatively full. Wish I'd seen it in person now

I saw it yesterday. I was in two minds as I was there when it was filmed so not sure I really need to see it again, but I'm glad I did. So many little expressions you can see up close and even some moments I'd never really noticed before. I imagine some of that was due to them having a camera in their face and playing up to it, but really great to see it in a different way.
I'm not sure theatre comedy translates so well on screen, it's different to film/TV humour somehow. The cinema was very quiet though so hard to gauge the reaction.

Company called Captivate Theatre bringing it to Edinburgh Fringe this August. Very reputable amateur musical theatre company so I'd expect great things.

I've had a search online and can't find anything. My grandma likes the film, and I was going to take her to the cinema showing of the West End version for her birthday. Sadly she ended up in hospital so we couldn't go.
It popped into my head when I was thinking of Christmas presents for her, but I've had no luck finding a version, or even seeing if one was released. I don't suppose any of you know anything about it?
(I did look for a Kinky Boots thread, but had no luck - I'm quite new to the forum, and the search button didn't seem to do anything — fully prepared to admit that was user error. I hope posting here is ok. If not, admin please you could move this to where it should be, and apologies for causing work!)

Thanks. Might have to organise a film night for when restrictions are lifted then!
I suspect 88 year olds with no internet access probably weren't the musical's target audience...

Really enjoyed watching this again last night. Just the tonic after all the bad news of the day. But boy did it make me miss seeing live shows!

This show has grown on me over time. Really enjoyed it tonight, especially being able to fast forward the couple of nothing songs which brought it under two hours...win! I look forrard to it coming around again.

The boxing scene and song is probably the only section I've never warmed to in the 5 times I've seen it live. The rest of it I think is just fab 😍

I look forrard to it coming around again. Which are the nothing songs? I don’t like the annoying Lauren song nor the ‘practising scales’ of ‘Soul of a Man’. They don’t do anything for me, which is a massive step up from the blanket hatred of my first visit.

Was it shot on video or film? If film, the uk dvd release will play 4% too fast best go for blu ray as wont suffer the same problem...

Wouldnt change the speed up problem above if disc sourced from uk/Europe or oz...but a dvd disc from USA or Japan would be ok..If shot on video then none of it would matter and all would play fine..
