Very shocked by this. From the Bush Theatre on twitter Is this true? Most sources suggest they met when they auditioned for Manchesterford Poly.

Very shocked by this. From the Bush Theatre on twitter Is this true? Most sources suggest they met when they auditioned for Manchesterford Poly. It may have been better to say that's where they worked together, but you're right, they met at uni. Julie was VW's tour guide and she felt intimidated by her at first. Such a loss. Julie will be undoubtedly heartbroken as we all are.

Such a shame. She was a real talent.
Hopefully she'll finally meet up with her friend Kimberley!

I was devastated to hear Victoria Wood CBE had died at such a relatively young age.
I was lucky enough to see her on stage many times, as well as stage versions of her TV shows. I remember an early stand-up show in Coventry when a friend I was with wanted to be a stage door Johnny. There were only about 5 of us there but she came bouncing out saying "Right, where are your autograph books?" She was jolly and smiling. As I don't do this sort of thing the only paper I had to sign was my ticket, which she happily autographed. Victoria Wood - As Seen on TV had just finished on the BBC so I asked if there'd be a repeat. "The BBC always repeat everything they get!" was her response.
Brilliant talent.

The Bush have investigated and it turns out both are correct! They were at the same Poly audition but didn't meet properly, then met again at the Bush. www.bushtheatre.co.uk/bushgreen/victoria-wood/

I also was devastated by this. Not being British I only discovered her a couple of years ago but quickly became obsessed and listen to her songs almost on a daily basis.
Never had a chance to see her live but I once wrote to her and she sent me a lovely note back and a photo from shooting the film I was saying I loved...how incredibly thoughtful and kind of her!
I am really grateful for everything she gave us.

As you can tell from my name, I am a huge fan of VW's!
A little recommendation to anyone who didn't see it but ITV's tribute that was aired last Sunday was wonderful and is still available on ITV Player.
