Does anyone know which membership is better, ATG or Delfont Mackintosh? Are they both worth having?
DMT offer drinks and programme vouchers and a discount at bars, none of which ATG seem to offer (although I have heard people say there is a bar discount although this benefit isn't listed on the website so maybe isn't available to new members?)

Agree of course with the monkey.
Depends where you live. ATG is MUCH better outside of London. I go to Manchester and Bristol a lot and advance priority booking for the big musicals like Miss Saigon and Les Mis has been great. More recently have also used for &Juliet, Back to the Future and Mamma Mia. There are also great discounts to be had.
For the ATG London theatres however I rarely see discounts.
DMT varies in how useful it is depending on whether shows you are interested in are at DMT venues. I have that too through and again advance priority booking was great for Les Mis Concert, Mary Poppins etc etc. Almost never see discounts for members through. In fact I'll re-phrase that - never seen any!

As someone who is a current ATG card holder and who had DMT membership, I would say that on the whole ATG has been a better investment than DMT. DMT was useful for the priority booking for shows like Hamilton, Poppins and DEH in the WE, I really didn’t get much else out of it so decided not to renew it.
While ATG more than pays itself back for the £35 a year fee as I use it regularly for theatres in Liverpool to get the bargain opening night shows for card holders and have managed to get discounts for the Manchester theatres. For London use, ATG really is useful for Priority booking (not for Sunday in the Park with George though) as discounts as @dom has said are rare.

Very much agree - have had ATG for years and get a lot of use out of it. DMT I got this year when the Les Mis concert was announced - purely as I wanted to get advance booking. Then I also used it for a couple of other things. I don't think I will renew it however!

Surely someone as prestigious as West End Wilma doesn't need to buy tickets to review shows

HQ Theatre seems the worst.
I live between 2 of their theatres and you can only subscribe to be a member of that theatre e.g, Orchard, Dartford. There is not a card that covers the whole group and when offers are offered on a Tuesday night they are 2 for 1, which is no good if you fly solo.

ATG definitely worth it if you visit regional ATG theatres regularly. Amazing deals during priority booking times as well as various offers and reductions. Got Book of Mormon stall seats for Bristol for £13, and Amelie stalls tickets for Oxford for £15. All great seats.

I have never had DMT membership because their shows are usually high profile and generally on for a loooong time. So it's not really difficult to be able to fit in a date. I don't think vouchers for 2 drinks and 2 programmes is particularly good value for money.
As has been said, although ATG have removed their drinks discount, the fact that you never pay booking fees, and that there are sometimes (more often regionally than London) member discounts make this better VFM. I travel a lot around the UK to see theatre and ATG have 37 theatres, of which I've been to 25. So ATG for me is a no-brainer. Which is lucky as I have no brain!

Got an e-mail yesterday offering ATG membership for £25 as part of their Summer Savers offers, got until the 5th Sep to decide but at that price does seem to be a no-brainier.
Not sure if the offer is available to all but worth checking your in-boxes / junk folders if you’ve booked with ATG in the past and considering becoming a member.

Looking at getting the card with this offer - it asks "please tell us what you'd like your home venue to be" where the choice is various regional theatres or "West end venues". Is there any advantage of choosing my local theatre at this point over "west end" in terms of getting local offers, or can I select multiple theatres later on in the process? Thanks! Looks like the offer is open to anyone by the way - members.atgtickets.com

I got that e mail also but when I clicked on the "find out more" button a screen came up to say that the membership is usually £35 so it's actually a £10 saving and not £20 as the e mail says. Plus I didn't think you got much for your money apart from 25% off drinks and I dont drink anyway. The rest of the benefits were neither here nor there

£35 is the direct debit price, £45 is the pay by debit/credit card price, this is £25 for paying by debit/credit card. So it's correct to say it's a £20 discount and also correct to say you are only saving £10 on what you could pay!

Yeah, I ended up paying for ATG by card to avoid accidentally auto-renewing, since I only find it so-so usually. The priority booking was worth it for getting decent Betrayal Seats before dynamic pricing kicked in, and for the free ticket exchanges - pretty sure I broke even on that so any fees I’ve saved since are ‘profit’.
But buying the ATG member tickets means you don’t get cash back via TopCashBack or Quidco - and if you’re buying expensive tickets because you can’t book early the cash back is probably worth more than the per ticket fee. So it’s worth having a think about your own buying patterns before signing up.

If you have a Natwest Rewards account, you can get rewards when spending with ATG (I think it's 5 percent when you spend over £60).

Barclaycard Platinum gives a 0.5% cashback on general spending no matter what. This would actually stack with ATG member ticket discounts/fee waiver though. If you are going through a cashback site then you won’t get cashback on ATG member ticket sales, only the ‘normal’ tickets At one point I did manage to get them to give me cashback on them when it didn’t automatically track, but they have tightened by the t&cs now to specifically exclude them.

No, the Barclaycard should work (‘stack’) with at ATG card, as it’s Barclaycard giving you the cash and they will be tracking merchant codes not product type. It’s TopCashback that won’t - it tracks the product type purchased and knows not to apply cashback to the ATG member ticket type.

Slightly off-topic but an alternative to cashback payment cards which works well for me is having one ostensibly issued by John Lewis, though of course provided and managed by a bank. Instead of cashback you accumulate points towards vouchers to use in JL stores or Waitrose. As I shop in both regularly I save the vouchers for treats and have just used some to buy a new GPS watch (£150 and cheapest from JL anyway), as the battery on my much-used old one was giving out before I'd done even 30 miles.
So sitting in the theatre, having no exercise, has paid for a great gadget to use on another, more active interest.

No, the Barclaycard should work Phew. Will try it out of curiosity. I normally use my other card to get air miles, but it's worth the try. You can apparently use airmiles to buy theatre tickets, but it's serviced by a ticket agency and it's 4000 upwards - i.e. £4000 of spending for one upper circle ticket... not so far off face value now, come to think of it... It’s not a recommended redemption among points and miles enthusiasts!
