Bit of a rant coming...today at 11am was the first chance for BOGOF tickets to be purchased for the month of August in the annual bun-fight known as the Kids’ Week promotion. This is the West End’s chance to hook youngsters into beginning a life-long love of theatre with their parents, guardians or carers and it sounds like a botch-up...again! For at least the fifth year running,Twitter lit up with masses of complaints by about 11.15am.Basically shows like Matilda,The Lion King and Six sold out in the deal seemingly within minutes leaving lots of very frustrated would-be theatregoers.Shouts of ‘con job’ and ‘stitch-up’ were prevalent and as a personal example of discontent,a friend of mine who had four devices open and running by 10am didn’t get offered a bean! There are issues with an archaic booking system in which customers have to trawl through each possible show choice date-by-date which sounds like slow death to me and a customer services dept that seems to start every reply to concerns/issues with, ‘We apologise that...’. This should be a great idea but it just doesn’t seem to work. Might not be a demographic issue for everyone on the board obvs, but this is a way of switching-off potential customers by the shed-load.Crazy!....and rant over! Apologies!

People are doing themselves over with their competitive race for offers. Imagine the additional processing required if half of the people trying to access tickets are all using multiple devices. Why should a person with 4 devices be any more entitled to tickets than a person accessing the portal with one device?
