Loved it. So it went panto, who cares, it's the only way out for a panto villain... And who else thinks he was faking it in the body bag Going by his last words to Eileen, he’d been faking it for quite a while... 😜

Back on form with what it does best, comedy. Mondays drug dealer episode was funny by tonight's episode with Sophie Thompson and Nigel Havers was hilarious. Even Steve Mcdonald talking to the baby was funny. A brief reprise until the next drama no doubt.

Some great comedy dialogue this evening...
A rather nervous Steve to Eileen after she’s been to identify Phelan’s body: How... er, was he?
Eileen, rolling her eyes at Liz: Well he wasn’t very chatty.

Just caught up with the Monday and Tuesday episodes. Some Corrie comedy gold... and so pleased to see Mary back. Where’s Norris?
So- who wrapped the boys tightly in clingfilm so they could belt each other with blow up bananas?!

Think Norris is still supposed to be visiting Emily who is back in the UK visiting someone, probably Freda her neice.

Just when you think it’s gone to the dogs, Corrie comes back with a bang...
Episode 2 last night... I was completely gripped by the hospital storyline. For once one of the endless hospital scenes we get now seemed so raw, and it genuinely made me appreciate that huge weight of responsibility that any parent must feel in that situation. I was bowled over by the acting, particularly from Michael Le Vell and Brooke Vincent. I was almost in tears myself...
And then, as if they knew they couldn’t go that far without some light relief, we had Betty’s nook and Liz’s cranny. “Oh hello, Liz... We were just talking about... er... your cranny!” I was howling with laughter.

Without taking away from the harrowing hospital scenes last night and the terrific acting of Michael Le Vell and Brooke Vincent, I have to comment on the extraordinary hair-dos that Maria inflicted on Angie and Tracey, both of which came in for much praise, but not from me.
Then to top it off, Liz, the queen of amazing hair styles, arrived at the Rover's to get her job back with her hair in a wonderful state of glory that must have taken the stylists hours to achieve. Now that's really what I call a Barnet!

Perhaps it's just me – and don't be afraid to tell me so – but I thought both of last night's two episodes of Coronation Street reached new depths of ineptitude.
The dramatic scenes were distinctly OTT, especially Eva's TV appeal and the scenes with Johnny trying to look after baby Susie and the associated scenes with Jenny and Liz. Also, the apparently more light-hearted scenes with Eileen and Steve and Abi as well as those with Daniel and Sinaid battling with Kathy and Brian over the empty shop seemed just silly, and as for Gemma and Chesney and Henry...words fail me.
Yes, I know. I can always change channels or switch the TV off altogether!
Did other viewers enjoy what happened in Weatherfield last night?

The guy playing Henry, as lovely as I'm sure he is, is one of the worst actors I've ever seen. Why did they bring him back? And give him such awful lines to say?

The new one playing Craig's girlfriend / daughter of the paedophile is having a few problems with her close-up acting as well. The casting department is not in the best of shape at the moment, I fear. Yes, it is ironic that the actor who used to play Steve's twin-brother Andy got sacked for his poor acting and yet Dev has survived all this time. I would also cast a vote for 'Worst Male Actor in a Soap' to the guy who plays Mary's son Jude!

I’m adding the person who plays Yasmeen to the list of bloody awful actors. Must have trained at the same place as Dev. Does anyone actually speak like that?
And what about the girl who plays Gemma? She is always ridiculously over-loud and over the top.
And while we’re at it, Antony Cotton never knows when to rein it in...

I always wish they would cast someone as Mary's mother but Maureen Lipman is a great addition to the cast. Anyone old enough to remember her as Beattie in the BT adverts may get an idea of how funny this role could be.
Certainly someone coming in and calling Liz out over her skirt lengths or putting Mary in her place will be worth it.
We all know how funny she cqan be so I just hope the writers give her good scripts, hopefully Jonathan Harvey might be involved as he has a good comedy pedigree and wrote some orf Sean's funnier moments.
I seem to recall that one writer used to provide some of Blanche's funny lines but I'm not sure if it was Jonathan or not?

A few people say Dev is wooden but as he's been in the show nearly 20 years and is the senior Asian character, it wouldn't be that easy to remove him. Lots of other Asian characters have come and gone but Dev always seems to survive so someone must like him.

Lots of other Asian characters have come and gone but Dev always seems to survive so someone must like him. Why would it be difficult to remove him? He hasn't had a storyline for years and adds nothing to the programme apart from selling bread in his shop, playing golf and doing dodgy accents.

Probably just me, but does anyone else think that Peter's current hairstyle and moustache make him look like Hitler?! Particularly when the camera angle is from slightly above, angled downwards? Ho! Ho! I hadn't really thought of Hitler but I have noticed that he looks rather different these days. While on the subject of Corrie comments, I am really concerned that Liz is looking particularly dowdy these days with her choice of frumpy clothes, and last night her hair looked dreadful. Another comment is that I have searched the internet but I cannot find any six-week cruises like the one Rana's mother is allegedly booked on. The longest normal cruises available are about 17 nights and then the longer ones are around-the-world cruises that go on for months and months (15 weeks and 24 weeks round the world and 9 weeks around America). I sometimes wonder whether the writers of Corrie actually check things like that or just make up fanciful "facts" that suit their storylines?

Liz really is looking dowdy, I agree. And I miss her zig-zag necklace. I guess you can run several cruises together - and buy portions of a "round the world" one? Did forget to mention last night the "Tina Lookalike" storyline. Even the poor actor playing "Tina" had the decency to look both embarrassed and confused at the scene throughout. Maybe Liz is meant to look dowdy as she was recently jilted so is not in a good place. And yes you are right about the cruise. World cruises sell sectors of the cruise as well as the full itinerary.

Yes, but if I was Liz and had just been jilted I would start wearing my most flamboyant clothes and jewellery and adopt my most glamorous hair styles, perhaps even several in the one day as she has been seen to do in the past. But each to his or her own!

Is it only me or does anyone else get annoyed by the obviously empty take away coffee cups !! The sound so hollow when placed down on the counters then people pick them up like holding a feather ..... I mean at least put some water in Also why are people still buying it off roy when Costa is across the street ? Why is Roy of all people selling it in cups that damage the environment And why did the locals not campaign to stop a massive corporate taking over our cobbles !! Cue placcards and Gail making a stand for the cafe ? And why are they still carrying freshco bags and also going to Devs ! And paying over the top I’m talking prices (Not acting ) lol When the coop is down the road too ? And same again it opened with no fuss surely devs would be on its knees by now ?
