I had the chance to see one of Carol Channing’s last performances ever as Dolly back in 1997. I chose to go watch a basketball game instead.

It's got to be the original cast of My Fair Lady with Andrews, Harrison and Holloway.

Got to be the original cast of Starlight Express. I wasn’t born. I don’t think I ever saw He Whistled At Me performed on stage which is disappointing. Same. This is the biggie for me! (Though Heaven knows I’ve been making up for it ever since!) Would also have loved to have seen the ill fated Broadway production. Otherwise it’s mainly stuff from back in the day when had to get parents to take me to London (I’m in the undoubtably charmed position of being able to see most of what I want to as an adult). Things that spring to mind: Chess, Children of Eden and Martin Guerre at Prince Edward. Moby Dick at Piccadilly. JCS Lyceum version. By Jeeves. Also REALLY wish had seen the following more than once: Miss Saigon Drury Lane Aspects of Love Prince of Wales Whistle Down The Wind Aldwych.

After being completely wowed by Hugh Jackman last week, I'd have to say "The Boy From Oz".

I mean I DID actually see it but the original Sunset Boulevard had Patti shown up. I got the understudy, I got the standby and (I’m pretty sure) i got Barry Humpries as Norma but no Patti. I would have killed for Patti.
Otherwise the original off broadway cast of Assassins. It was the first CD I ever bought and if you’re lucky (and you have pumped me with a dozen Sex on the Beaches) then il happily lip sync the whole thing to perfection

Stanley Baxter as Dame in pantomime. He made a rare pantomime appearance outside Scotland at my local venue, the Manchester Opera House, in the 70s but I just couldn’t afford a ticket or to get there and back.

Really wish I'd seen: the Menier productions of The Colour Purple and Sunday in the Park with George, Love Never Dies, 2012 production of Sweeney Todd, Gillian Anderson in Streetcar

The vast majority of my regrets involve not seeing many opera singers who retired/died either before I was born or when I was too young for operagoing. However in ternms of musicals then I guess it would have been interesting to see the original productions of the classics such as Guys & Dolls, My Fair Lady, the R&H's, etc. plus Starlight Express & Cats as I gather they were quite the spectacle. ETA Oh and Chess & Evita too.

Michael Crawford in "Billy"@ Drury lane. I saw this production many times and Michael Crawford was fantastic. I would have loved to have seen Steve Balsamo in Jesus Christ Superstar and Adam Garcia in Saturday Night Fever as I have both soundtracks and both are excellent. Great idea for a thread 😊

Philip Seymour Hoffman in Death of a Salesman in NY. We tried day-seating but got there too late due to trailing non-theatre-enthusiasts who just couldn’t seem to get their arses in gear. And then they didn’t want to try again for the matinee the next day because we already had a show booked for the evening.
I comforted myself with the thought that he’d do something in London eventually. Then he died about 18 months later. ☹️

On my list would be Anything Goes at Drury Lane. My wife and I flipped a coin in the queue at TKTS and she won so we ended up at Bombay Dreams instead.
Also the original staging of Aspects of Love, Evita, Chess.
Recently, Company. No idea why I didn’t get to that!

Carousel - 1993 - National.
We got a glimpse of it last weekend at the reunion concert which was wonderful, but I’d give anything to actually SEE it

Laurette Taylor in The Glass Menagerie, if only to see what all the fuss was about.
The 1973 Broadway production of Uncle Vanya, directed by Mike Nichols, with a cast that included Julie Christie, Lillian Gish, Cathleen Nesbitt, George C. Scott, and Nicol Williamson.
Not to gloat (well, maybe just a little), but I have seen a couple of productions mentioned by previous posters: the Peter Brook Midsummer Night’s Dream, and the original production of Sweeney Todd, with Angela Lansbury.

Like tmesis mine would be My Fair Lady at Drury Lane with Julie Andrews and Rex Harrison. Being of a certain age though I do consider myself VERY lucky to have seen many of the shows other members have mentioned on this thread. Billy at Drury Lane with Michael Crawford (pre-Phantom) and a very young Elaine Paige (pre Evita). The original casts of Les Mis, Phantom, Cats, Starlight Express, Chess, Evita etc. SO LUCKY!

With Deal J's posting, tonight in A Lady in the Van, due to the indisposition of Nicholas Farrell, the part of Alan Bennett will be played by Alan Bennett.
Actually I would have loved to have seen Twiggy and Tommy Tune in My One and Only, and Julie Andrews in victor /Victoria, or the original Boyfriend.

In regards to the post above, in tonight's performance of The Lady in the van, due to the indisposition of mr Nicholas Farrell, the part of Alan Bennett will be played by Alan Bennett. But I would have loved to have seen Twiggy and tommy Tune in my One and Only, or Julie Andrews in Victor/Victoria or as Polly in The Boyfriend. Like others I'm old enough and lucky enough to have caught all the original casts from Camelot on.

My first proper visit to a theatre, not counting a couple of school trips, was to Theatr Clwyd to see a touring production of The History Boys back in 2010, so I would love to have seen the original cast.

Never got around to seeing The Producers when it was at Drury Lane and wish I had. You’re welcome to my memory of it! 🙄 Full original cast of ‘Rent’ for me...did quite well between Broadway and the Shaftesbury, but a full set all in one place would've been champion!

Not so much a show (actually, yes, it was probably a helluva show!), but I wish I'd seen Queen with Freddie Mercury.
