There are a few on the list but my biggest regret back in my teens was not seeing the original “La Cage Aux Folles” at the London Palladium in 1986. George Hearn and that incredible old style broadway staging !!!

Ooh great topic.
The original London cast of Phantom - Not really a regret though seeing as I was a wee nipper a the time. Les Mis at The Palace. Sunset Blvd by ENO at The Coliseum - Prevented by health restrictions.

Good idea for a thread!
Original Sunset Boulevard with that set, and the NT Carousel come to mind straight away.

What a great question! I'll kick myself later for not remembering more but:
- Sunday in the Park with George with Jenna Russell and Daniel Evans
- Pipe Dream at the Union (they announced the run just after I booked to go travelling for the exact time it was on) - I would have loved to have seen all the R&H shows so hoping someone brings it back one day...
On reflection, I guess my list of "shows I nearly didn't see but am massively glad I did" is much longer, so on balance I can't complain!

If we’re including plays too, then I’d better move this over to General.

Plenty of things that were on before I was old enough to go to the theatre!
More recently though, I was gutted to miss Follies, and to not be in New York at the right time to see Hello Dolly or to see Hamilton pre-Broadway.

Mine is easy, if a little off the wall.
Back in 1954, Gypsy Rose Lee gave a show in Sydney at what was then called the Palladium Theatre for 12 nights. At the ripe old age of 17, and quite heavily into musicals, I decided I had no wish to see a tired old American stripper so I gave the show a miss. How I regretted doing that when Gypsy opened on Broadway in 1959 and became one of the great American musicals!
Is there anybody on TheatreBoard who saw Gypsy Rose Lee do a striptease live in a stage show?

Got to be the original cast of Starlight Express. I wasn’t born. I don’t think I ever saw He Whistled At Me performed on stage which is disappointing.

Michael Crawford in "Billy"@ Drury lane. I've been singing songs from that show all morning! My dad's got the original cast recording on vinyl, I love it😊

Almost all the shows I long to have seen happened before I was born😕 If I had to choose one, it would be Judy Holliday in Bells Are Ringing (Or Judy Holliday in Born Yesterday)

Easy question! Antony Sher's Richard III. I came in to say this. My mum thought I was too young, so we saw something forgettable locally instead.

I wish I had seen Children of Eden back in its first big incarnation. The show might have been dumb but the London cast recording is an all-time favourite of mine. Also other big shows of the period - I had just begun travelling to London somewhat regularly (well, once a year or so) and stuck to re-visiting favourites rather than giving unknown things a shot.
Also kinda regret I didn't get to see Comet in New York with Josh Groban as I've given up hope for a transfer.
I won't list stuff I didn't get a chance to see because I was too young/not born, because that list would be LONG.

I should've seen Heathers before it closed! Also the original Ghost with the better production. Everything else I was too young.
Also to throw a music concert into the mix, I regret not seeing Christina Aguilera's Stripped tour. These are shows you'll definitely never get to see again.

The commitments, and similar to a post the original cast of les Miserables and chess. Both of the latter, and would've loved to have seen the original LM at the Barbican. And Carrie. Why not?!

Peter Brook's Midsummer Night's Dream. Original cast Les Mis. Yes please. Oh and Philip Quast's Javert, which I sadly missed.
