Mmm. The coffee machine was I think gifted, as are the numerous doughnuts, chocolate etc! So? She went to the trouble of getting advice on what coffee machine knowing that she’d get one gifted. Your post just illustrates the point that people would rather think the worst.

Why not just buy one, like everybody else does? It’s not really asking for advice, it’s a full on pitch for the coffee machine. It’s a well worn tactic used by influencers. So Carrie gets to be seen as being kind to her fellow cast mates whilst gaining a brand new expensive piece of kit, and picks up more likes on her Instagram.

Why berate someone for being savvy to the world in which they operate?

The company will have a certain budget for gifting/promotion, and she has a lot of followers, plus lots of her cast mates use Instagram/Youtube etc and might mention it (or at least share Carrie's post about it). It seems a pretty savvy business decision to me!

We've filled 87 pages based on four songs and the cast announcement. We need something to bulk it out.

Don’t you worry…I’m about to start a poll of peoples favourite bakes from Ole & Steen. Then tomorrow their fave Pret items leading to an O&S vs Pret showdown on Thursday. That should give us content for days.

Surely it should be a ‘self identifying plus sized spirited n’er do well’? Is Elizabeth happy for you to call her Betty? Oh theres so much to deconstruct here.

Came on here looking for reopening news and stumbled instead on a thread about how the cast choose to grind their beans.

(I definitely do my bit for regional theatre though — I've only actually been to a show in London once!)

Bad Cinderella ended up in the doghouse cos she had a cafetiere, but thanks to judicious influencing/begging, she now has a Nespresso and has friends. Forget glass slippers: Andrew's Cinderella is about glass Nespresso cups and pods. We've cracked the storyline at last.

For the record, the cafetieres in Bettys aren't glass, they're metal, rather beautiful and made by David Mellor. (Not that one, the other one, and now run by his son Corin, who is as nice as his father was.)

She set up a tuck shop and library for the rest of the cast but comes across as "hard work"? It seems quite like a nice and thoughtful thing to do if you ask me but I suppose that doesn't fit the narrative people like to have about her. Alex Brightman did a Vlog for School Of Rock on Broadway. What came across more strongly than I'd ever thought about was his sense of duty to be a company leader, and not just soak up the publicity and plaudits. Sounds like Carrie is doing the same. Good on her.

There will clearly be other shows as part of this trial and so I don't know why everyone is acting like its some special treatment and only he will get this chance. The only reason that we know about Cinderella first is because the prime minister was ASKED about ALW and Cinderella. Why will there clearly be other shows? Its quite evident online that there are plenty of theatre companies who would love to be involved, but clearly are not.

Tickets from 25th June back on sale - guess the pilot opening will be happening then.

That should also mean the soundtrack will be out.
Are people who have tickets going to listen to the soundtrack first, or go in blind?

Personally I would much rather go in blind. I find I can’t get into a story in the same way if I know where it’s going. There’s that extra element of dramatic tension that is lacking if I know too much about something.

Obviously if it were just that, I'd be with you thinking it was a genuinely nice gesture but I've heard far too much over the last few years - including from people who have claimed to work with her - and although I am not someone who readily believes internet gossip I feel there are too many consistent dodgy reports about Carrie for their to not be truth to them. Hence my opinion.
Also, I've been around people in real life who are very big on making public gestures and you can usually tell it's not really about being nice in an honest and organic way, so maybe that clouds my jugdemet.
