Victoria Hamilton Barritt did an IG live the other day and when someone asked her about how she feels about ALW now she gave a really classy answer at 15:25 - http://instagr.am/p/Cds5GDLIPWj I really respect how maturely she's treated the entire situation from the beginning. She's a total pro who understands that although it's rubbish, it's just the nature of the industry and you just have to stay positive and move on. I barely knew VHB before seeing the show, but I really like her now and will definitely follow whatever she goes onto next. Rodney Vubya was on as Charming when I last seen the show a little while ago, and he was distinctly average in my opinion...So I find it really cringe worthy how he keeps publicly berating his employer. I obviously wouldn't wish this on anyone, but he's going to end up blacklisting himself if he's not careful because no one likes dealing with an entitled or difficult cast member!

Now here's an actress I would love to see come to NY if the show does open here, not just because she's classy, mature and professional, I've loved listening to her on the recording and would love to see her live in person

‘No more witch hunts please: I’m sick of it’ What a classy bird VHB is in that live And what a contrast to the leading lady who is liking and reposting Rodney and others shady posts about ALW. I guess it speaks a lot to Victoria’s experience in the industry and their lack of it.

She's absolutely hilarious and totally commands any scene she is in. I've mentioned this on here before, but I was sat in the front row at one of my visits and Caleb Roberts accidentally sprayed my cheek with spit (I say sprayed, it was more like a splat!) when he arrived on stage and shouted his Charming entrance line. It was during the wedding scene where the cast are all sitting down and VHB was sat right in front of me, I tried to discreetly wipe my face with hand sanitiser, but VHB seen it all happen and started to make disgusted faces and tease me in Godmother character and it was genuinely hilarious! I've been a huge fan ever since.

I guess it speaks a lot to Victoria’s experience in the industry and their lack of it. VHB will also be privy to a lot more of what's gone on backstage during the run too so likely had a more balanced opinion. Especially if the multiple rumours of poor cast behaviour are true. I've never seen her be anything but be excellent in whatever she is in.

Staggered to hear VHB say that ALW personally approves cast members having an extra day off.

There are certain people in a show who just bring everyone down. I've worked with several. Constant negativity, moaning - Cinderella has a couple of these. Most even outside of the show know who they are. They've been deeply unprofessional from day one and will struggle to work in this industry ever again.

Depends what you mean by blackballed. Everyone has their own list of people they’d never work with, and people gossip and share horror stories. It’s pretty common for CDs, directors and producers, if they’re considering an actor they’ve not worked with before, to call up any names they recognise on that actor’s CV to ask what they were like to work with. On the flip side I know one CD who’s so universally despised he’s barely cast anything other than cornflake commercials in years. Actors just won’t audition for him. The thing about ALW is that he’s widely disliked within the industry and there’s a fair bit of schadenfreude over Cinderella, and the cancellation was handled so poorly, it’s generated sympathy and goodwill for the cast and not much for ALW. Blackballing definitely exists, in terms of people losing opportunities because they get a rep for being difficult. But theatre is such a popularity contest. If the cast were beefing with say Sonia Friedman (who’s well-liked and known to be fair) it’d impact their reps a lot more. I can imagine ALW is disliked within the industry, some of his comments to the media in recent times have been cringeworthy at best. I know he's essentially been blacklisted but it always surprised me that people wanted to work with Scott Rudin given his well known bullying behaviour long before it became public. Wasn't Scott Rudin only bullying to his staff and those below him though? So the talent don't know/care as he treats them well. And the doors working for him would open for those below him means there will always be someone happy to take your job if you're not happy.

So after a year of no stage door at Cinderella . It’s obviously now ‘allowed’ as CHF timeline is flooded with photos of her hugging everyone and their dog. Seems the last bastion of anyone giving a damn over at the Gillian Lynne has well and truly fallen as it limps into its final weeks. Perhaps the plan is to shut the show if they all get Covid. Cheaper. To be fair, it looks like most of the West End have stopped worrying about it now. I've just seen loads of photos of cast members mingling with hundreds of people at the West End Flea Market si that's really not that much different

It’s a totally expected situation where the older more experienced members of a cast know how to behave professionally and correctly, and some of the less experienced have a sense of entitlement and higher opinions of themselves. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if that’s the case here

One day on a Q and A CHF was commenting stage door was strictly ‘not allowed’ by the company and she was moaning about ‘being unable to hug you all’ within 24 hours it was a thing. Two observations here. 1. Think the company have realised that stage door photos generates publicity for the show and they need the ticket sales. 2. Hugging strangers 🤢

I've been a fan of her since I first saw her in Gypsy 10 years ago. She seemed like a breath of fresh air from the usual principal cast starlets.
Great in everything I've seen her in. Perfect as Diana Morales in A Chorus Line. Wish I'd seen her in more, but motherhood has understandably taken her out of the equation for a while too.

ALW or any producer would have to approve the casting of someone who wanted a different schedule to everyone else as it means their understudies/alternates would need paying and the knock on effect with scheduling is enormous.

Yeh I was just surprised it was going up to his level and not being handled by someone a bit closer to the ground. Maybe he is more hands on than I thought.

Apart from the Sunset Patti thing has there ever been any evidence of being black balled in the theatre world? How far is the reach of RUG and ALW? Didn't ALW blackball the late Stephanie Lawrence?

Watched this earlier this week - enjoyed it a lot but did feel that overall it was a production which had stronger ideas than it did a final product.
There are definite pacing issues and would agree with others who have said that the second half songs and ending don't quite work as well as they should. But all in all it's an enjoyable watch, a refreshing take on a story which has previously been done to death, and I was absolutely living for all the scenes with the Queen/Stepmother! A solid 3* from me.

Edit because I don’t know the days of the week!
Last minute but I've got a spare, front row ticket to see Cinderella tomorrow night (May 24). Call it £20

My boys were there on Thursday night (MCM) and had a fine old time by the look of their instas. So great MK having a football ground for bands to play at now instead of the horrific Bowl.
