We need to know more about this business model, ceebee. Please explain. I think that theres only one actual producer on it, and two of the film creatives as associates essentially betting on their own IP and not having to pay to use or license the characters etc.

We need to know more about this business model, ceebee . Please explain. The producers used the existing BTTF intellectual property to underwrite the risk and effectively heavily invested themselves on the basis of recouping as quickly as possible to minimise their exposure. They were confident in the show being a success so took what was effectively a high risk approach (had it failed they would have lost a lot) knowing if it achieved moderate to high short-term success then they would move into profit more quickly. The key to its success was probably timing (one of the first shows out of the blocks after Covid) plus the generous tax breaks of the UK government to encourage investment in creative industries. Just my view - I think it's a great show but as with anything you also need an element of luck. I think BTTF has probably had its day now and should evolve into a tourer. Now watch them extend...

You've said more succintly what I was trying to say. They've kept the investment "in-house" and reduced costs that way plus the other things I mention in my post.

Ghost is a tour, I don't think it's replacing BTTF. Whatever goes into the Adelphi needs to be another show that can consistently sell a theatre of its size. It also needs to compete with Mean Girls and SIX literally down the road. Just For One Day.

New cast perhaps? It’s almost a year to the day that the current cast was announced?

Can't imagine it would run for long though I think there's at least 5+ musicals, most of them Broadway transfers that'd fight tooth and nail to get in the Adelphi.

Placing my bets on "To be continued... on tour!" Or something to that effect.

Ben Joyce has announced his last date is mid-August. Sounds like a final cast change... then maybe this cast is going on tour? I seriously doubt they're extending because it'd be a bit useless at the rate they're selling tickets. I really hope this isn't an early closer.

It looks to me like they are just setting up the announcement of a new Marty.

Cast change is due next month so it could be that.
But it's convenient timing that the Back to the Future announcement is 10am, and the Ghost announcement is at 11am

It looks like a cast change, but do think it's time for BTTF to move on.

Going off the groups section of www.backtothefuturemusical.com/london/tickets/ group bookings are available up to 6th April 2025, so guessing this announcement could be the next cast from august and them publicly releasing the dates between December and April if they aren't going to extend it further.

Booking dates, as always, mean absolutely nothing. Even less so for group bookings.

Yes, anything could happen. Unless someone feels like calling them up to ask about that, I would never take the group booking date at face value...!

If the rumours are true, the new Marty is a great casting choice - he absolutely deserves it and I'll be definitely going back to see him.
