Rosalie Craig would be a great Eliza, she did the role as part of the National’s 50th celebration.
I imagine this would go to the Palladium for Summer 2020 or perhaps the Dominion after The Prince of Egypt

It’s the best musical I’ve ever seen, production and actual piece of musical theatre.
I’d love to see it full scale in the Dominion - that house would like INCREDIBLE on that stage.

I hope they redesign some of the sets. It looked they spend all the money on the Covent Garden and the house!

It’s not a patch on the NT production.
Everyone getting excited about the house set- We won’t get that here, it wouldn’t fit on any stage except Drury Lane. They are redesigning it for touring and we will get that version. Clearly all money and effort was spent on that because other scenes looked dreadful as a result, like Ascot and the Ball.
And Rosalie Craig? Nope.
Kimberly Walsh for Eliza

Kerry Ellis. I know she has done the role as an u/s. But it would be great for her. If not Verity Hunt-Ballard

Erm, isn't Kerry Ellis a wee bit old for Eliza?
Would love to see the role go to a newcomer as MFL doesn't necessarily need star names to put bums on seats and there are plenty other roles to stick celebs in, not least Higgins.

I’ve never seen the stage show but based on the film isn’t Eliza supposed to be a waif? A guttersnipe with a heart of gold and a sweet voice selling flowers in Covent Garden? If there’s a part for someone on a veg stall bellowing “GET YOUR TATERS ‘ERE!! PENNY A BAG!!!” then Kerry might be a choice for that.

I love Kerry, but absolutely not. Similarly Sheridan, she couldn’t do this justice.
I’d really like to see Rosalie do it 🤷🏻♂️

I'm sadly sure they'll cast Sheridan Smith There’s no way I can imagine her being able to sing it properly. Act it, maybe but that’s not good enough on its own.

I guess casting Smith wouldn't be much different than casting Ambrose, who's more an actress than a singer as well. Plus not being able to sing the Funny Girl score didn't prevent her from being cast.

Whoever is cast as Eliza needs to be properly trained and experienced enough to cope with the wide range of the role. She also needs to be a top notch actor.
I like going for an older Eliza. It makes the central relationship more credible and makes more sense of Doolittle wanting to get rid of his daughter.
I don't know who I want to see in the role but stunt casting will not be acceptable

I want to SCREAM. Theatre is DEAD if people thin Sheridan thingy is the highest grade talent we have. Even Rosalie Craig isn’t a 10/10 singer. Give these roles to polished classical musical theatre unknown performers. Broadway must be laughing at us!!!

Do they need a big name for Eliza? If not, Anna O'Byrne (currently in Amour) could certainly sing it. She played the role in Australia in a production directed by Julie Andrews!

Dominic West was a Magnificent Higgins in Sheffield in 2012 - 13. Laura Baldwin / Natasha Barnes / Daisy Maywood / Danielle Hope would all make terrific Elizas.

I was lucky enough to see this on Broadway, and it absolutely blew me away. However, the way this production is directed and staged has a much more naturalistic feel to it, down to the character interpretations.
Both Ambrose and Benanti had very different takes on the character from each other, and certainly much different from the typical slightly aggressive ingenue Eliza. This production needs a grounded, emotional Eliza, or the entire thing will feel off.
A lot of the choices mentioned here I feel would not fit this production. Take Anna O’Byrne. She’s a lovely actress and singer, but her performance in the Andrews-directed My Fair Lady was by-the-numbers. A great performance? Sure. For this production? Not really. Someone like Rosalie Craig- an actor more rooted in making interpretations their own- would be great.

Erm, isn't Kerry Ellis a wee bit old for Eliza? Laura Benanti looked too old for the part in the Broadway production when I saw it. But if they've any sense they'll cast a young new talent, or if it's a recognisable name from theatre they're after then someone like Danielle Hope. Although frankly I'll take anyone who can sing and just as importantly can do the accent properly, as the poor accents ruined the Broadway production for me. It's a decent production but nothing earth shattering. It will obviously make money, as MFL is such a recognisable show, so I can understand why producers would want to bring it in, but I can't get massively excited about it.
