Yeah there’s at least 12 theatres ‘near’ China town I can think of fairly easily!
Woman in Black is booking until April. It has been on a looooong time now. Surely everyone has seen it!

It is very popular with schools for thier drama students as it shows what theatre can do with just a few actors and very simple effects. There is a new set of school students every year. I suspect most drama teachers know it word for word by now.

They aren't gonna let this go on like Bonnie and Clyde - they've got more self respect than that. They’ve been at it for six days now and it’s boring, if not a bit desperate. All gone quiet again on this this week. Such a weird way to 'build' something up. A volley of teasers and then nothing.

Well, this might be going to the Fortune after all. The ATG website now shows that The Woman in Black is no longer booking until Sat 29th April, only until Sat 4th March now, and the 8pm performance that evening is sold out 🤔

I am surprised though, The Woman in Black must be super cheap to run, I'm guessing ATG wanted a new show for the Fortune after so many years.

Possibly the decline in the overseas tourist trade has weakened the box office in the last few years, and there is probably more commercial potential now for new shows to entice the home market.

I would be very surprised if overseas tourists actually saw The Woman in Black in their droves. I suspect it was dependent on school trips. I wonder if much like Blood Brothers years ago, The Woman in Black was on a very old contract and ATG have wanted to get rid of it for some time and the opportunity has finally come up for them to secure a new show and get rid of the old show.

No, it's personal preference, but in my opinion if you have teasers, fine but then have the reveal soon enough after. It's a total pain when it goes on for months on end like this and Bonnie & Clyde (I appreciate others may feel differently).

It's being announced on Friday. This is in no way comparable to the absolute embarrassment that has been Bonnie and Clyde. But personal preference I guess as you said.

I'm assuming the closing announcement for The Woman in Black will be in the morning or Thursday.

I am almost positive you're wrong about it going to the Fortune Theatre. Someone on the team mentioned a theatre to me in passing and it wasn't the Fortune

Someone on the team mentioned a theatre to me in passing and it wasn't the Fortune I might be adding 2 plus 2 and getting 5 but it does strike me as odd that The Woman in Black cut its booking period from late April to March so something must be going into the Fortune even if it isn't Operation Mincemeat.

Think the announcement maybe on the 18th Nov They running a fancy Facebook advert, saying big news and that date. With a link to website to sign up for tickets.

Does seem weirdly coincidental timing so maybe it has changed to the Fortune!

Does seem weirdly coincidental timing so maybe it has changed to the Fortune! According to that veritable font of information known as Twitter, Operation Mincemeat starts previews there on 29th March. We shall see, I suppose.

Most mentions of the fortune theatre as replies on their twitter have been removed. I think its hard to deny at this point!

I wouldn't be surprised if the producers of Operation Mincemeat were going to a different theatre but then the Fortune was offered to them by ATG.

I honestly don't think the fortune would be anyone's first choice All I’ll say is the gents toilets are the worst of any West End theatre I’ve been in. That said, with 432 seats, it’s small enough that it allows a show like this to have a West End run. The theatre community have embraced it already, the question will be if it can attract a more mainstream crowd.

I hope so, maybe it'll also steal the school trips that were attracted to the theatre by Woman In Black! Its definitely a nice size for them and really hope the show thrives. I can see it going either way, just wish they had time to renovate that theatre first.

Even if Operation Mincemeat doesn't end up running for years, the Fortune becoming free means a lot of smaller shows can come in now, not that they was limited choice as the Ambassadors is similar in capacity.

Yes - plus TWIB can always come back once the tourist trade picks up. In the meantime, there's a veritable treasure trove of shows that would thrive in a 400-seat WE space. Might be a good one for Almeida shows to transfer into if DOY is busy.
