I think it shameful that all seats are the same price. £40 Mon/Tues, £60 Weds/Thurs, £80 Fri/Sat. Back row of the gods and front row dress sane price. I know Fortune is small but those seats are not comparable. ATG should be ashamed, as those outside of London who would like to see this are stuffed financially and it's not exactly an expensive show to mount either.

It's largely a new production, they haven't just moved the Southwark Playhouse set into the Fortune.
Theatre is not cheap to make, despite what people like to believe.
There are days of the week where it is cheaper to attend. The top price ticket is £80 on a Saturday night. That is SIGNIFICANTLY less than the top price ticket for something like Pretty Woman or god forbid we drag up the Streetcar discussion again.
The original model of all seats all days £80 needed changing, but to me I see this as a good compromise

£80 is still a lot more than many people can afford, though. Once they're out of previews, there are no tickets for less than £40 (after ATG adds fees). That's awful.

I was an actor before I went into theatre management where I ran one venue for over 10 years including directing and producing. If you live outside of London and only obviously on go on a Saturday you have no choice but to pay £80 or not go. And it's a bit galling sitting in the upper circle knowing those in better seats paid the same amount. This show could be the next Play That Goes Wrong - very popular, not overly expensive to stage and potential to run for ages. The cast recording is imminent. Not sure this pricing is the way to go to ensure longevity. |

I can understand people who don't live in London and only being able to come and see a show on a Saturday bring annoyed with the all seats £80. I'm lucky in that I live in London and don't like going into town on a Saturday night so I've been able to book a Tuesday for £39.50 which is pretty good value for a west end musical.

I work with a lot of young (30ish) people who are into theatre and they just aren't considering this because of the price. Their standard conversation is 'oh I fancy seeing a show tonight/tomorrow/this week' and someone else responding 'Oh, xx is on Today Tix for £25'. They rarely even think about going to a theatre's own website for tickets, let alone paying £50+ for something new/unknown. They are going to miss out on a huge, young audience that could be vital to its long-term survival (and they are planning to run a lot longer than the advertised 8 weeks, by all accounts).

To be fair, I don't live near London and very rarely come down on a weekend because of inflated hotel, travel, theatre prices. This isn't just an operation mincemeat problem!
Happy the Tuesday matinee is cheaper though, barely any show does a matinee on a Tueaday so to fit as much as possible on a trip it works out perfectly for me.

I realised the other day that a performance I'm booked for next week is on Tuesday, having thought it was Wednesday, so I looked up Theatremonkey's show schedule page to see what Tuesday matinees were currently running & was pleased to see Operation Mincemeat listed. Except then when I went to look at ticket availability I discovered the Tuesday matinees don't start until May. I know it's usual for shows not to do matinees for the first week or so of previews but not to start doing midweek matinees until a month after the start of a run seems a bit odd. I'm not sure if I'll be seeing it now, as there aren't any other convenient preview dates for me & given how much the prices go up for most performances from the start of May I'm not sure I want to see it enough to pay over £40, let alone £60 or £80. |

I didn’t realise it was two rows that they added at the front of the stalls. I moved from row B to row A but it is AA that is actually the front row. So I exchanged my tickets for nothing. How is it near the front? We booked row B with no seats in front. Then they filled the gap. Then they added another row! By then there was nothing else we could move to so we have stuck but I like to be prepared. I booked my £35 seat in stalls row A last November, very soon after it went on sale. It was definitely the front row then. I did get an email about the "new" front row and nearly responded. Very glad I didn't as AA has reduced legroom and a significant look up. I was fine in row A but I am 6 foot tall and row B or C would probably be ideal for anyone a few inches shorter. The show is better than ever and the ending is wonderful. Almost full house tonight and lots of young people. Extremely well received and instant full standing ovation. I do agree about the crazy pricing though. £39.50 for stalls on a Monday or Tuesday is great value and I'll definitely be returning (A7 preferably) but £79.50 to sit in the upper circle on a Friday or Saturday is a total rip off. |

Their press night isn't until May 9th, I believe, so they'll be holding off on the midweek matinee until then. The prices move from preview rates to full price from 1st May & there is actually a midweek matinee listed on 2nd May. I agree it looks like 9th May is the official first night though, as it's a 7pm start. |

I don't have the answer to that, but I thought i read somewhere that the theatre was going to be used to bring in smaller shows that otherwise wouldnt come to the West End and would not be long running productions.

After seeing this tonight, I really hope this has an extended run because it's my favourite show of 2023 so far. Rarely does a show tick all boxes but Operation Mincemeat did for me.
