I'm looking forward to The Wild Party starring Daniel Day Lewis and Amanda Holden. Putting the pieces together now from Being Alive’s clues - HAIRSPRAY starring Daniel Day-Lewis as Edna and Amanda Holden as Velma?

Isn't 'Hairspray' doing a tour of the provinces as well?

Supposedly. It’s in the June slot, and it’s the original broadway production/set/costume

I don't see why Hairspray will be a money spinner. It's been on a million tours and will going on one next year as well. It's hardly a show nobody has seen for a while. And if it's the same set/costumes as last time it's not even anything new in itself.

Just got dates - it’s both musical slots - 23rd april to 30th August.
And the reason it’ll make cash, is because Michael Ball is returning as Edna ... his fans will pay FORTUNES

John Travolta would be the better choice. (financially, not necessarily artistically)

Aida would be inspiring a great score IMHO, the name Elton John and Tim Rice would sell the place out and could probably transfer.
I so love Hairspray, one of the best musicals ever, but would it work in the behemoth of the London Colesium? Let’s see.

I guess that doesn’t matter now that it’s him again! I wonder if that’s why the UK tour stealthily announced today?

Well that's a fortune saved on the Coliseum's usual sky high ticket prices.

The Hairspray score does not need a decent a size orchestra.
West End, Film and TV version was enough for me. Ahh well money saved

Miss Ball really was rather wonderful as Edna back in the day.

To be fair, it never should have closed (when it did) in the first place.

If what if Souchboyy is true and I don’t doubt him, I will feel blessed and humbled to hear that marvellous operatic score performed on the same stage as he ENO.

callum has the show, but he doesn’t have the cast Not bad for a tongue-in-cheek stab in the dark! More cast coming out tonight or just La Ball?

I mean I loved this show but the Coli is WAY too big for this. I disagree, it played some big venues on tour. And with Michael Ball, it’ll sell tickets.

"initial 12 week run" sounds interesting. this will be a huge hit and will no doubt extend. this is what the Coliseum has needed from these Summer shows.

This is so exciting! Hairspray was one of the shows that really got me into theatre and it’s still a firm favourite. I’m so excited to get to see the original production rather than the small tour at last! BRING. IT. ON.

Its running until 23rd August - that's the extension date.
So pleased - i unashamedly love Hairspray, and Michael's Balls was wonderful as Edna.
Now if Tracie Bennett and Sandra Marvin can reprise Velma and Motormouth that'd be dreamy thanks

Is this going to go on tour? I caught the last tour in Dublin twice and each time left the theatre on cloud 9. A perfect example of a feel good musical
