I was looking at some clips of the film on YouTube, never seen it before. I was surprised how dark it was. The death of the first born took me by surprise, I’d forgotten all of the plagues ( I’m afraid bible studies have never been a strong point),
Was the previous US production carrying the Dreamworks tag as this does very prominently? That’s definitely setting a certain expectation isn’t it? The blurb on TodayTix says to expect haze, smoke, fog, pyrotechnics, violence, lasers, loud sound effects and actors moving through the auditorium.
Can’t wait to hear feedback from our early adopters!

Do you think this will extend through Christmas?

I'm there this Friday. Ive never been to a show this early in previews but it just worked to add it on to a pre booked trip. I really hope it doesn't get cancelled

Do you think this will extend through Christmas? Think a show is booked in from end of October so seems unlikely

Stephen Schwartz was on BBC Breakfast this morning (right at the very end if anyone wants to watch on iPlayer). He talked about using "invention" and "theatre magic" for the chariot race and parting of the Red Sea. Then ended by saying that "everything is really done by the actors and dancers", which makes it sound relatively 'tech-lite'. Not long to find out, I suppose!

An illusion designer is involved, though....

I noticed the costumes include blue and red Nile dancers, perhaps they'll be something to do with it.

I predict the tacky over-use of video/projection coupled with the kind of movement direction that felt fresh when Shared Experience did it in the early noughties.
Can’t wait.

I predict this to be Norte Dame De Paris levels of naffness.. but completely over designed. The costumes and set look truly awful..
Cannot wait.

Just managed to get a rush ticket after tapping the button furiously one came back.
Was hoping for stalls, but it’s in the circle. Can’t complain for £25! Excited to see what’s in store!!

I tried to Rush today, just to see what tickets did come up, but didn't manage to get through! I'm in no rush to see this, was more curious at what tickets they were planning on selling as rush tickets. I imagine that once the initial rush calms down they will be easier to come by

Really hope the staging of this matches the fantastic score. One complaint about many musicals is unmemorable music, which this one certainly isn’t.

They don’t want the Dominion.. What theater do they want and when do they plan to come in? I’ve said this already- The Adelphi. If they wanted a huge theatre, they wouldn’t be opening it first at the Opera House Manchester- they’d be opening it at the Curve or Plymouth.
