Yep, adore the Horrible Histories gang. If anyone hasn't seen their Shakespeare film Bill, it's a treat, silly and irreverent whilst managing to be surprisingly historically accurate

The army guy's little "ah!" when the plague girl appeared next to him set me off. Brilliant.

At first seeing the trailer it reminded me of ghosts of moteley Hall That's what I thought too! Seems like a very similar premise. Although to depress us both, that was over 40 years ago so fair enough

I was too young to watch The Ghosts Of Motley Hall, but not too young to find the companion novel at a car boot sale and read it repeatedly. Glad to see other people had the same thought!

I though this was sweet, but what's with the BBC scheduling (again)? It seems perfect for a family teatime Sunday slot, no more gory or risque than a Carry On or Dr Who. 9.30pm on a Monday (and opposite Game of Thrones) is burying it.
Btw, the location is the house Bamber Gascoigne inherited in similar circumstances and was in the news a couple of years ago.

I rather enjoyed it. Silly enough to be amusing and agree that it would make a good Sunday teatime programme for the family.

I've just looked again at the Bamber Gascoigne story - as described in the press, it's very like the scene in the show, called into the solicitor's to be told his 99 year old great aunt had left him a huge, decaying country house.

Liked it a lot and looking forward to watching more. Not sure I can agree with it being potential family viewing though, considering Simon Farnaby's character is walking around in his pants (I have a strong if unsubstantiated feeling that he died the same way Stephen Milligan did).

He walked around in his pants in Yonderland too and that was on about 6pm. He must have a thing for not wearing trousers when acting.

Yes, but Carry On films have a lot of 'adult' content, though I notice ITV have now censored Barbara Windsor's tits and the c-t joke has gone from an early Midsomer Murders, so maybe schedulers have become more risque-averse (sorry).

Ben Willbond in that army uniform will keep me coming
back for more.
Oh ho ho etc.
-
Some more thoughts so this post isn't just a cheap joke: - I see that Martha Howe-Douglas has whacked out her generic posh woman acting. Bless her. - The caveman is the best character in it. "KILL THEM" indeed. - I like the speed of plot development, I feel like this sort of thing needs to be snappy in order to avoid being stale. - Still felt like Horrible Histories-lite and given that the best things in that were the songs, I think this'll suffer from the comparisons. I didn't like Bill either for the same reason - their acting isn't strong enough to carry a whole vehicle. - The time slot is the most bizarre thing. I would stick it in the Doctor Who slot - the humour is pretty stupid for post-watershed.
In conclusion - I can't say I loved it but I have hopes for it.
