Well why don't you contribute something more positive then, rather than pointless criticism like that? People are entitled to their opinions - your post is the equivalent of saying every theatre production should get at least some good reviews... I believe you just proved his point. At least I have actually contributed to the discussion previously. There is no call whatsoever for mocking if you aren't going to be bothered to actually say something on topic, and I don't see why people shouldn't be called out for that. Entirely different to having an opinion or not. I would have no problem with the post if it had actually been anything about the topic of the thread, but it wasn't.

I Love Strictly. It's my favourite. I don't care if somebody gets higher or lower marks than I might have given them because I'm fully aware that I'm not one of the four judges with the wealth of dance experience paid to mark them. In fact, I only get to see the programme via that flat screen in the corner of my living room rather than actually being present in the same studio as them, on a raised platform with a rather perfect view of the contestants in all their three dimensional glory. I don't think Kelvin is overmarked as much as I don't think Chris is undermarked. I don't have a problem with Anneka's personality any more than she has with mine. I don't think the BBC are telling the judges to favour Michelle to plug Drag Race because her being crap would probably be just as useful. I think the fun-sucking comment came about because with EVERY SINGLE negative post in that last page, one could imagine the person writing it being the sort of person who would be no fun whatsoever to watch Strictly with.

Yes alicechallice, if I wanted to go into detail with my remark (which is well within my right and opinion not to do), then those would be my exact words.

I think the discussion here would very much reflect what people are saying sat round their tv’s at home. And the thousands of people discussing it round the coffee machine at work today won’t all have stars in their eyes. As many are saying they fancy X will be saying did’t Y look a right state and how annoying Z is.

I’m huge fun to watch Strictly with.
I think it is fair enough to post negative comments here. This is the big showcase BBC programme and we are all concerned with theatre and shows and dare I say it, know a bit about such stuff. All comments are welcome.
So, those 2 10s . Whaaat? they were not in step at the end and it was all faffing at the start. I think that the vibe in the studio doesn’t always come across the telly screen. That is the only reason I can give for that travesty. It wasn’t West End standard. I don't go to many stage shows with dance but what I have been to is better than that. And more up to date. Yes, he is one of the better ones but it wasn’t 2 10s.
Anneka. What went on there? She didn't seem to try the Charleston step. Was she completely out of her depth, so why did her agent put her up for it? Does she have a programme or book to push? Or was Kevin not up to it? He is a likeable chap but maybe he didn't bother much this time. ....that choreography was dreadful. He should have kept her in a dress, albeit a shorter one, and done a much less frantic Charleston with a lot of basic. Makes you also wonder how much other people tell them what to do.

I totally agree with those who don't believe 10s were warranted on that performance. It was barely a Charleston - a few steps here and there. It was out of time more than it should have been and some of the lifting was very awkward. It was entertaining - but not worth more than 8.
The Aladdin routine was also overmarked - far too little dance content to justify such a score.
There were some very poor music choices and some awful costume decisions. Not a good week overall

Toothgate was hilarious. Shame it came after 1 hour 50 minutes of ordinariness. At this stage of the competition it's often the pro doing all the work, hiding the inadequacies of the celebrity. I've watched that segment twice and it's Emma who was doing all the work, hiding Anton's inadequacies. He did (almost) nothing!
In previous years I've watched live, half sober, half in drink. This year I've been watching on a Sunday fully sober. It's a completely different show, and very long.

Far too long. Way too much fannying about. Over to you Claudia, back to you Tess, here’s how they got in in training, ooh look they’re at a pie and mash shop in the east end, over to you Tess. Yawn.

What amused me was the way they brought family on at the slightest mention of a rumba. 😂

WTF did they do to the lyrics of Send In The Clowns? I was so distracted that I forgot to watch the dance.
And Single Ladies didn't deliver a Charleston. Not enough basic content. Johannes is just soooooo camp. Delightful but camp.

Scores were just totes ridic tonight.
Are they going to have to go to 11s by week 8?

They are better overall than last year but scores are just silly so early in the series. Plus Mike Bushell is soooooo annoying.

Yes I agree, scoring made no sense tonight - it’s as if sense and logic has just gone out the window!

There isn't enough critique of technique going on. Much of the choreo is lacking that respect - and whilst it is not the fault of the 'celeb', the judges should still point it out.
At least the costumes weren't as naff as last week - though some were unflattering (Michelle's really wasn't designed for her body)

Motsi didn’t say anything negative about anything or anyone. What’s she there for?
Michelle Visage was knocked of her pedestal tonight. She knew that Salsa wasn’t great but the judges played it down. Having said that I am putting my dislike of her to one side because I do think she is being ‘real’ in the rehearsal clips and exposing herself in a way many people might not.
Mike Bushell has to be the star of the night. Thank god they allowed him to just dance something without a comedy stupid gimmick (except the chips).

I can’t believe that Shirley said to Saffron that she’d just created memories for millions of people! Really?!
I felt sorry for Will who looked quite deflated by his comments. He comes across as a lovely person and really puts the effort in, plus I think Janette is one of the better female choreographers. Nice to see Anton near the top of the leader board for a change.
Who do we think will go this week?

plus I think Janette is one of the better female choreographers. Janette's choreography is usually pretty poor but she's been much better this year - seems to me she's really enjoying working with Will and it shows. They are a great partnership and shouldn't be at the bottom of the leader board. Glad Amy's finally getting a chance to show how good she is as a dancer and teacher, and glad Oti seems destined to go far this year (all the way to the glitterball please!). I don't particularly rate the other female pros except for Nadiya, who is a wonderful dancer and deserves a really good partner next year so we can see her choreography skills. It's really interesting to see how much Katya is struggling without Neil to help her in that respect.

I *thought I saw Samantha Barks in the audience and just seen her tweet that she's a friend of Alex Scott, so that explains it.

Because it's based on the Streisand recording, they sang those different lyrics. Sondheim talks in his book about re-writing bits of it to satisfy her ego.

Is it me or are the dresses better this year? I still don’t like the singing and I still think the camera work could be improved.

Some of the frocks are better. Last week was a bad fancy dress pageant - so many bad choices there.
This week - certainly a step up. But Michelle was hampered by something that really didn't flatter her and there was a dark blue dress - which was lovely until the glow in the dark underskirts showed.

If anyone is interested, Shirley is on Loose Women on ITV in 10 minutes, with her partner Daniel Taylor.

If anyone is interested, Shirley is on Loose Women on ITV in 10 minutes, with her partner Daniel Taylor. Fairplay to Shirley for getting herself what looks like a younger bloke. Apparently they met in Panto last year. Also Bruno won't be on this week and Alfonso Ribeiro will be stepping in again. Alfonso was good last year but do we need to fly someone in from the US for one week. Johannes seems to be gloriously camp so why he wasn't partnered up last series I don't really know as he is one of the most entertaining and likeable pros this year.

It's really interesting to see how much Katya is struggling without Neil to help her in that respect. Katya had some very original ideas on previous series but you wonder how much of it was Neil? Amy and Danny had some good dances last year but finally Amy has got a partner who isn't twice her age. Janette is a human firecracker and has more incredible flexibility. I can see why she was put with will as his condition she'll be much easier for him to lift. Nadiya we haven't really got a chance to see her choreography for a couple of years and she is a great dancer as well as being the hottest female IMO.
