Well, not all Hamilton fans vote for anything the show is nominated for by default. I love Hamilton, it's one of my favourite shows ever, but voted for Patti, Jonathan, Rosalie over the Hamilton cast members, and gave my Direction vote to Marianne Elliott. I'm starting to get tired of some people thinking we can not like anything else or vote for a different show/actor. Of course some people just vote for anything Hamilton, just cause it's Hamilton. But that happens with every other show. I agree, everyone thinks I voted for 42nd Street last year for everything, and I only nominated it in 9 catagories 😂😂 but seriously though, I see these fans who do vote for everything for one show and I just find it weird. I saw someone vote Heathers for Set and I'm like really girl?! Really?! This reminds me of the days of the Smash Hits Poll Winners Party where I frequently voted Take That in every single category going, including Best Film, Best Soap and everything else.

Unfortunately no Fun Home and Marc Antolin. Most of my other nominations got through though. Fun Home’s absence is just one of the laughable choices made which render the whole thing pointless. In fact (as Hamilton was in my 2017 list) not one of the shows in the new musical category mirrors mine (my own end of year roundup coming, somewhat unsurprisingly, after the actual end of the year).

I'm certainly interested to see who wins Best Actress in a Musical when Carrie, Rachelle and Laura are very much in the "fangirls" musicals who typically vote for things like this, which hints that votes may split if they don't all just vote for Carrie. If splitting happens, I won't be surprised to see Rosalie win this one too.

With so much love given to Hamilton, Heathers and Eugenius may reflect to the main demographic that vote for these awards. Also the nominations are so broad it is very likely that very few have seen all the nominees, so therefore make these awards rather pointless.

What surprises me the most is why the Industry has bought into it. Surely it should be named the ‘Most Popular Social Media Fanbase Awards’ or the ‘I Never Saw It, But I Like Her On The Telly Awards’. I know my comments may sound petty to some, but you get my point!

I'm going tomorrow too. Very excited to get dressed up and watch the performances. Should be a fun evening at the very least.

‘I Never Saw It, But I Like Her On The Telly Awards’. I think you just invented the most popular theatre awards ever.

Clashes with the Endeavour finale then. Hope Patsy Ferran gets a gong - will be astonished if she doesn't.

Evening starts off with a tribute to Stephen Sondheim. Starting on a cheerful note to highlight how the evening will go. 😂

Standing ovation for Patti. Heathers songs horrible. Sorry Loved the Sondheim opening and great to see Hannah Waddingham on stage. The drag queen is hilarious and the other host out of his depth. Loving the Lion King tote bag. Sitting by Jamie and real Jamie.

Well I did have a lot of fun at Little Shop of Horrors this summer but I really don’t think it deserved to win Best Revival over Company!

That is all.

Let’s face it Hamilton should have won. But like most public voted awards it always ends up going in favour to something that has a higher social media outreach. However congratulations to Heathers and Carrie. Whilst not the greatest musical of all time, the show meant a lot to the audience it was aimed towards.
