Happy to be a 'snob' if it means I want excellence from the theatre I pay to go and watch and am not content with mediocre-bad productions . Dear god, the rampant snobbery from some people on here is vile.

I saw the same show as mrbarnaby. Strange. Had he stayed for act 2 the would have seen a massive standing ovation from what felt like the whole of the theatre, definitely the entire stalls. There was a family next to me and the dad was singing along to tomorrow in the finale like his life depended on it! Hilarious. He saw riverdance, I saw an apple seller begging for sales through tap. It's only Annie - not that mentally taxing. Crikey - No one let him have Tickets for a Pinter play. Those bitter queens won't make it past the first scene! I'm going again after previews - which it is still in for another week. Not going to comment on individual performances as it's still in previews. I think it's fair they are allowed to settle in. Not a sentiment shared by mrbarnaby. I'm guessing he is a failed performer, or perhaps an active performer that didn't get the job, either way, shocked at such a different opinion from the same show. Usually just read this board and don't get active, but that was so unfair I decided to comment. A massive standing ovation From 1500 people Who have probably spent their entire weeks food shopping allowance If not for the whole month On the show Doesn't say much

your argument is thin. Trying to claim you're making an observation on high ticket prices is inaccurate, especially based upon this comment in context. Look I'd rather scratch my own eyes out than sit through this show, but really, making comments that boil down to 'foolish poor people with no taste' again? Really?
There's a reason this show comes back again and again, people enjoy it. I'm not those people, clearly neither are other people here. But I'm not judging those who do go, and show their appreciation for a hardworking cast.

Wonderful comment above, the first half of which bears out the supposedly offending earlier sentence completely!
(A cast can be hardworking and terrible, alas, as we all know.)

I mean quite...I've made no secret of my dislike for Ms Hart (as a performer, she seems a lovely human) and God loves a trier, and I've seen more than one cast try very hard and be very terrible. BUT if an audience is going and having a good time, well good on them frankly.

But, it really does amaze me how a family can afford to go at those prices. £95 for a decent seat, no child reductions is a massive £380 for 4. To say nothing of the travel expenses, ice-creams, drinks, merchandising etc. The seats must sell at those prices too most of the time, and this show is heavily sold. Seriously, how do "hard working families" afford it? Do they only go once a year?

The families I know who aren't 'theatre people' (and when I worked box office) though do cough up and pay it, going maybe once or twice a year but always in the 'best seats' just because I guess they see it as a once/twice a year 'big treat'. I guess also a lot of them take their kids to pop concerts too, which are often the same, if not more expensive. So it's become the 'expected' price for something like that? Doesn't make it right, and I always get annoyed at families forking out that much not knowing there are ways to get a bit of a better deal.

I wasn't talking about Annie. We were talking in general terms above. And don't try and Parsely-splain Box Office and discounts to me, sweetie. I sold more tickets than you've had freebies (and given how many that clearly is...that's a lot)

Obviously I know people do pay those top prices/premium prices, but whenever I look it is always older, middle-aged people who tend to be the ones sitting there, not families.

Wait a minute- this show is offering kids tickets half price everywhere so it can't be selling that well.
I hope the reviews are terrible, it deserves it.

The thing is, even if Miranda Hart (the most unfunny woman in the U.K.) gets slated it will not affect her career. Some people are untouchable. This woman sells out arenas.

You are right.. if people like her and think she's good, they will think she's marvellous in this, just because she's stood there. The rest of those like me who think she's talentless and has just been very lucky, will have confirmation of this in the most spectacular way with her inept 'performance'. The thing is, even if Miranda Hart (the most unfunny woman in the U.K.) gets slated it will not affect her career. Some people are untouchable. This woman sells out arenas.

A little over generous there. Many of the arena shows on her tour had huge curtained off areas of seating and swathes of empty seats in what was left
