Ah yes. I read about it in the local rag. Isnt it going to be a theatre as well? Stratford picture house probably better for me 2. Lots of talk about it, but I’m not sure it’s actually happened yet. Would be good if it did! If/when it does happen, the plan is for it to be an outpost of Soho Theatre. More here: sohotheatre.com/walthamstow/

Just under £18 at Vue or £20 for VIP. No price for picturehouse yet. That's £5 more than we used to pay for our front row seats at the beginning. 😁

Theatre Severn in Shrewsbury now advertising for December. SAT 7 DEC | 3PM & 7PM 42nd STREET 42nd STREET, the legendary Broadway musical theatre classic, is a ‘glorious’ (★★★★★ Express) and ‘utterly moreish extravaganza of glitz’ (★★★★★ Times). Telling the story of a talented young performer who gets her big break on Broadway, this is the largest ever staging of the Tony® Award-winning musical and it was filmed live at the magnificent Theatre Royal in the heart of London’s West End. Starring national treasure Bonnie Langford and featuring iconic songs 42nd STREET, We’re In The Money and Lullaby Of Broadway, this is pure musical magic on the big screen. TICKETS ON SALE 10AM THURSDAY 25 JULY If you’re not aware it’s also at Cineworld Shrewsbury in November

My local Empire are now advertising for the 10th @ 4pm and the 12th @ 7pm both @ £17.50, although the independent cinema nearer to me isn't yet - but it is showing as coming soon on the website dippy's posted above (thanks!). They normally do get the West End show screenings, I'll check again tomorrow night as they update on a Monday evening.

The cost of licencing, filming and screening a theatre show is surely less than a feature film budget yet tickets usually cost significantly more. £20 at my nearest participating venue.
Wasn't the original concept of event cinema the opportunity to see a gig or theatre show live as it happens, as with the recent Take That O2 concert and the initial screening of Everybody's Talking About Jamie.
All my family saw and loved 42nd Street on stage at the Theatre Royal but £80 for the four of us to see it at a cinema is too much. Hopefully a DVD will follow.

There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to pricing. I could go to any of four local cinemas, all within probably three miles of each other. Of the two that are already selling tickets, one is £12, and the other is £16.95.
Perhaps I'll go to Tideswell instead, and watch it in a function room above a pub. 42nd Street and a pint, or two, of real ale make for a winning combination in my book!

If you’re a Cineworld unlimited member it’s only £6 which is pretty decent.

Anyone know if Meerkat Movies can be used for "event cinema" like 42nd Street ?
if it is being released on DVD for Christmas that should be known before the cinema release. Amazon is usually the first to list with a release date and accept pre-orders.
Would make perfect-Christmas-Day-afternoon-after-Queen-viewing for us !

This will have taken over a year to come out at the UK cinema.
Hopefully a DVD or TV showing will follow but we need to let them know the demand is there. Drag everyone along to the cinema, tweet the show, tweet Broadway HD.
Let's make this the huge success that it deserves.

Most screenings seem to be November,I believe...leaving early December for the DVD release...in an ideal world, perhaps?

Or perhaps a showing on telly over the Christmas period.

42nd Street is "sort of" back in London before Christmas.
Not on sale yet but will be playing at the Upstairs at the Gatehouse Pub Theatre in Highgate from mid December for about a month. Professional production as far as I know.
From one of London's largest theatres to one of the smallest (140 capacity), can't wait to see what they do with it !

The in-house Ovation productions at the Gatehouse are fantastic. Top Hat is probably the closest to 42nd Street they've done before. Joanne Clifton led the cast for that. I wonder if they'll ask her back for this!
