One of the members of the ensemble shared his instagram story recently and it looked like they were recording sound of tap in the studio.

My 4th visit last night and thanks to rush seats on Today Tix got seats in Row A of the stalls. All the cast were on and no understudies. As good as always and came away a very happy bunny. Took my boss and work colleague as it was our Christmas outing. Neither are big theatre goers and pleased to report that they both loved it. I did give them a lesson in theatre etiquette before especially around eating of sweets and NO talking during the overture. They were very well behaved.

I’ve now seen this three times. Twice with CJ Johnson as Dorothy Brock who I thought was just brilliant (although Sheena Easton was just slightly better vocally). I’ll definitely be buying this cast album.

Those who haven't seen/heard, Clare Rickard (who usually plays Phyllis) played Peggy Sawyer last night, and will do so again for both performances today. So anyone who wants to see the 2nd Cover give Peggy a go, now is your chance.

Oh marvellous. You too could witness the new Catherine Zeta Jones in person.
In a decade or so, Clare Rickard may end up married to a rich old actor from a Hollywood dynasty. Peter Fonda is dusting off his zimmer frame as we speak.

Did I dream this, or has this extended past 20th October? I did a search and I can't find a post. I'm in London that weekend and was planning on going to the final performance but...

Saw the show tonight with Norman Bowman as Julian Marsh and he was fantastic ,much better than Tom Lister in every way , stunning vocals acting and charisma .After seeing him I wonder why is he the understudy? Fab show for all the cast

Very disappointed with the quality of the recording. We’re innthe money seemingly only has about 3 tap dancers in it.

Very disappointing quality when all so much has been put into the stage presentation - even the Stephen Ward cast recording has better sound quality.

Planning on going this evening (5th visit!) to take my sister for her 2nd visit. I want to make sure that it's Clare Halse tonight before I get the tickets. I can't find information anywhere, but with Clare Rickard earlier the week i'm a bit worried. According to twitter Clare H was on last night so I would presume she will be on tonight, but wondering if anyone has further info.
Thanks!

The cast recording is on spotify if anyone wants a listen. Listened to a couple of the songs but that's all for now, I'm not a big music listener and don't think I need to own it since I doubt I'll do much listening to it.

Just previewing on I tunes and I can't hear any tap. So my question a few pages back was not so daft after all. Really disappointed but I'll still buy it as it's only £7.99 and still nice to hear the songs. I might add my own backing tap with 2 spoons.
Hold fire. Opening number has tap so a bit happier.

I think the sound quality is perfectly fine, although the tapping is slightly quiet in places. Annoyed that parts of the instrumental sections in the big numbers have been cut, but otherwise it sounds pretty glorious. Lullaby of Broadway and 42nd Street in particular are just wonderful.

I like it! It's not one of my favourite cast recordings, but it's fun, like the show!

So I am going to re-write this now as I have listened to it in full. Yes tap, lovely, just could be a bit louder but overall its right up my (42nd) street!

Upon listening through a couple of times, I think my only issue is the balance. The band sounds absolutely incredible, but it overpowers the tap and occasionally the soloists too. I wish they had included the entr'acte and tap finale, but it's still a great album and I'm loving it. It's making me crave another trip to the show!

It like it. Band sound amazing, and its great to have Sheena on recording for this show. Its also great to see Clare and Stuarts charm isn't just evident in the show, but also on a Cast Recording,

A whole post about 42nd Street without a single negative comment about Christopher Howell!!! I was literally just comong back to write "dare I write a negative comment about Christopher Howell on this recording?"... but really, him on the recording speaks for itself. To quote the text I just got from daniel... "the best part of this Cast Recording is I can skip over Chrisopher Howell's bits". 😂😂 One negative for the recording, I would of liked the full instrumental of the Finale. They all sound great on this version, but even the songs are in a different order than they are in the Finale of the show anyway haha.

I've booked again for mid January to see Phillip as Billy. If Norman was also on as Julian Marsh I would be overjoyed!

I think if Stuart decides to leave, Philip will get bumped up. When I saw her at stage door, Clare told me it was going to be quite a big cast change, with a few people being "moved around". So I wont be surprised to see some ensemble member bumped to to lead or first covers.
