They need to do more marketing Like Tap dance down Oxford Street Tap dance along the central line platform during rush hour Tap dance in the British library Tap dance the isles during performances of Wicked Get Russell Tovey to tap dance Tap dance at parliament square on election day Tap dance around the tea section in Fortnums Cmon guys There was a van driving around the WE on Saturday plastered in The Girls ads and blaring out "Yorkshire". Sung by Gary Barlow, naturally.

Sorry to be dim, but what were LOTR and BILB, and what is 'papering'? (Just to prove I'm not completely clueless, I do know what AAIP is, because I've been to see it.)

Such a shame, Lord of the Rings was a real spectacle that, if it wasn't for the cost, could of lasted longer, but I doubt there was a cheaper way to do it.
Bend It Like Beckham spent their budget on the wedding outfits. The rest, well, god loves a trier!

I should have been able to work out BILB, cos I saw it, and really enjoyed it (which probably puts me in the minority).

I do feel a bit uneasy about the 'heffalump' comment.

I do feel a bit uneasy about the 'heffalump' comment. Yes that should be retracted as it strays into the 'insulting performers' category. 3 strikes and out, I say

I do feel a bit uneasy about the 'heffalump' comment. Same. Must board members comment on the (perceived) size of actresses? By all means say they are a sh*te performer (in the case of Ms Hart I'd be inclined to agree) but can we not with the resorting to calling women either fat or whores as way of insult...at least show some originality.

The reference "heffalump" was directed at the way she lumbers about on stage rather than her actual appearance- and given she has in fact lost lots of weight it was not a dig at her dimensions or proportions
Perhaps I should have used "horse" as she gallops or canters about frequently
And has been compared to this in the wider press
Apologies for those who have been traumatised or distressed unintentionally

To be fair Drury Lane is a huge theatre to fill and the only shows that could fill it are Hamilton and Harry Potter! Balcony closed right up until Friday now excluding the Weds matinee I do not see the show making it into 2018 It is shame But then again you cannot force feed people things that they do not want to see It is not correct that only Hamilton and Harry Potter can sell out this venue Most of the shows which have played Drury Lane have managed well over 12 months and there are many long runners Even LOTR ran for just over 13 months It will be a disgrace to the theatre world if 42nd Street does not make it until October And quite frankly shows the pitiful state of the "general" WE theatre going public Who are happy to go and watch her galloping about at the Piccadilly theatre I have changed to galloping As she often does this and canters And pretends to be a horse Which is so much more elegant than a Heffalump

I'm sure
Overwhelms us
In all seriousness, I wouldn't take offense at a throwaway comment like 'heffalump' usually, it's just when someone frequently uses derogatory comments on appearance and judgments in general like you do, well people are going to pick up on it. The rest of the world seems far too poor, uncultured and fat for you to deal with Parsley, it must be a hard life.

Yes, I detect a tightening of belts. Plus older theatre going folk will be wary of going out in London following recent events. Maybe I'm untypical but recent events have made no difference to my inclination to go out in London (and I certainly intend to adhere to the many future arrangements I have already made) and I'm an older person. Also aren't people arguably now more in need of something to distract them from real life? And again, on the expenditure front: not only am I not tightening my belt but I thought it was generally accepted that the trend was to spend more on "experiences" such as theatre, cinema, days out and holidays, and less on consumer items such as clothing, gadgets, etc?

Personally, I am with you all the way showgirl. Life is too short and I am theatre mad. Generally though I think current circumstances have an effect on a lot of people (but not all).

If IS take over the world then they'll ban all theatre, so we should go now while we can!

I remember it as being an irritation that I had to think of a different way of getting to a venue if there was a bomb scare. There were times when it really was happening frequently as well.
