Oh no!
That's so sad. I'm so thankful we got to see the incredible production of 42nd Street under his direction. What a legacy he has left with all of the work he has done ove the years! RIP. 😢

Anybody else on the site found themselves comparing every single thing they have seen since this masterpiece closed,to this barnstorming work of pure genius and thinking,‘It’s good but it ain’t no 42nd Street’? Well,I do. Could not bear to even walk past the Theatre Royal last time I was in London.Pathetic but true.Frozen? Give me a break! Please,please.....someone release the DVD of Clare flying across the stage like a winged goddess and all the other magical moments that made this the rare kind of show that one day many, many years hence, perhaps in old age, those who saw it will remember...and smile...and say with immense pride...’I was there’.

It was a year ago yesterday since the cast change! If you miss the guys take a trip to the Marigny Theatre in Paris and see Messrs Howell, Goodhame and Denman along with Ms Halse and the fabulous Ria Jones in Stephen Mear's production of Guys and Dolls. It was excellent and I loved the three shows I saw there last weekend.

I saw that and got a bit emotional too. 😂 It really is time for another revival don't you think?! That final performance is still one of the best nights I've ever had in the theatre, and that final staircase is still incredible to watch, it gives me chills just thinking about that standing ovation.

Wish someone could make a video of all these last night videos the cast and friends recorded so we could keep it forever.

Agreed, alece 10, and I can’t believe there is still no commercial release of the show on Blu-Ray/DVD.The cast filming of the last night would make a great special feature on the disc if permissions were granted. Also still waiting for the Heathers recording on a physical CD.

It's so crazy that it will be Mr. Bertioli will be the one in the film, not Ashley or Stuart. I'm so happy for him!

Anyone know why Clare is wearing the 42nd Street number blue dress and not the gold finale dress?

Anyone know why Clare is wearing the 42nd Street number blue dress and not the gold finale dress? she only did this on two occasions, when Bonnie danced with her in the Finale so both were matching as Bonnie could wear her end of Act 1 dress. So this video is either from Bonnie's opening night or the Muck Up (final) matinee performance.

Anyone know why Clare is wearing the 42nd Street number blue dress and not the gold finale dress? Good question... I suppose they must've had a spare of the blue dresses that fitted Bonnie and so they both wore them in order to match for this special finale. I can't imagine they would've spent the money to make Bonnie a finale costume just for the 2 (correct me if that's wrong) performances at which she did it. Edit: ahh yes danieljohnson14 is right, I forgot that Bonnie would've had a blue dress for the end of Act One!

You can still see some dancing legs on the marquee behind the scaffolding on Drury Lane. Still sad to walk past the dark theatre knowing what used to play there.

I saw Tom Lister at an event today so asked him about the DVD. He said it's not going to be out before September/October I'm afraid 😧
I, of course, reminded him how desperate we are to see it how missed this show is by us all!!
I'd also forgotten how lovely he is. He is a very, very attractive man! I swooned.

Was it posted on here that the director died shortly after filming? There was likely to be a delay caused by the mourning of their friend and colleague, and deciding who would look after his side of the project thereafter.

I don't know who is directing but Pinewood Studios are involved so I fully expect it to be fabulous.

Are you taking about Mark Bramble having died or did the filming director die? I think the film director is very rarely the theatre director (happy for people to prove me wrong). I know this was shot slightly differently to most filmed theatrical performances but on a standard non-live filmed production it's pretty much edited by the end of filming. I know this was not standard but I think they would have had it more or less edited by the end of the filming. I don't feel like they'd have had a long editing process at all and it would just need watching and approval.
What do you mean by Pinewood Studios being involved? Do the studios make things? (I actually have no idea). To me Pinewood being involved doesn't mean much, lots of companies are based there and it could just be that it's being graded there or something like that.

I don't know the details, just that they are doing whatever is needed to prepare it for release.
