Apart from a reprise of a couple of numbers from his stage successes of Me & My Girl and Oliver I thought Robert Lindsay gave one of the laziest performances I’ve ever seen in panto with his very laid back take on Hook. I got the impression it was all rather beneath him and he really would have rather been somewhere else. I would have thought the same, but then I did see that he attended the great british pantomime awards so I guess the experience can't have been that bad for him! He didn't just attend, he won Best Male Villian. I assume to qualify you had to be performing in a pantomine, otherwise BurlyBeaR woz robbed! 🙂

Just a thought but with the trend of casting musical theatre newcomers in roles Jac Yarrow May be a a possibility for this year’s palladium panto.

Doesn't seem any announcement tonight. I have a bad feeling something is up. Getting late to announce it - could someone have pulled out? The later they leave the more some people will book another panto/another activity for Christmas rather than wait.

Also my dad only buys in person. He fears a late launch will mean by the time he gets up there the following week they won't be seats left for the performance we want (He won't let me purchase the tickets online.)

Hurray up and announce something. Getting sick of my dad's daily rants and conspiracy theories about lack of announcement.

Just saying. Wonder if it’s that

The announcement is VERY late isn't it. I thought it was going to be announce around Easter at the latest.
There must be some issue as the producers would surely like the advance in their bank account! Perhaps the choice of panto depends on a big star name they can attract and a deal has fallen through.

Hearing that there's no panto at the Palladium this year. Don't Cha Wish Your Waitress Was Dawn Like Me - An Evening With Ashley Roberts runs in its place. She's had enough of her shift at the Adelphi.

With Matt Baker (The One Show and Countryfile - yes, that Matt Baker) as Joey the Clown!

Plus Paul Zerdin as Silly Billy, Nigel Havers as Daddy Bear and Gary Wilmot as Dame Betty Barnum. All the usual suspects.

Really strange choice of Panto. Really strange. I did a version of this panto when I was about 10 and basically an evil ringmaster tries and takes the bears to his circus whilst Goldilocks and her mother (the Dame) along with the Good Fairy have to save them! The Dame runs her own circus which all the villagers love

Am I alone in thinking it is rather odd to make this announcement without any reference at all to any female actors/singers/dancers being cast?
Where are the women?

Obviously the female cast members will be musical theatre stars of lesser name value but it still comes across wrong - Havers is Daddy bear so mummy bear should have announced as well.
I do think this will have to be the last year of Claery/Xerdain/Havers. Great as they are it is getting tiring.
Might be a bit too gymnastic/dancing for my parents taste.

Not alone. That billing looks plain odd. Six men listed above the title (in which the only named character is female) is just wrong.

Matt Baker is an odd choice. Yes he was a professional gymnast, yes he's on the one show and countryfile, but he's hardly mr personality... Still i think he'll appeal to the older ladies who will think he's lovely
