What I gather from the comments is it’s something to do with her performing with the Rolling Stones Is that not just her friends and fans jumping to conclusions? That the production company are 'jealous' of the attention she got. Which is the standard argument when anyone gets criticism these days 🙄 and also makes no sense. The only way I can see the rolling stones thing being a problem is if it was somehow a breach of contract in that she is meant to be saving her voice between shows or something along those lines. Shes obviously got in first though to 'control the narrative' Yeah I didn’t think it was the Rolling Stones concert But I just don’t understand why she posted it if she’s not gonna say what happened

What I gather from the comments is it’s something to do with her performing with the Rolling Stones I think you may have cracked the case. www.nme.com/news/music/the-rolling-stones-bring-out-chanel-haynes-to-perform-gimme-shelter-in-milan-3253853"The legendary rockers performed in Milan, Italy on Tuesday (June 21) ... Haynes appeared with the Stones in place of their longstanding backup singer, Sasha Allen, who sat the Milan show out for an unspecified reason. A mentee of the iconic Quincy Jones, Haynes is best known as one third of the gospel trio Trinitee 5:7. More recently, she played the lead role in the UK’s production of Tina: The Tina Turner Musical." Was there a regular Tina show this Tuesday, while she was guesting for the Rolling Stones? I think I can read between the lines here if so. If not, I'm stumped!

The only reason to be suspended is perhaps she pulled a sickie in order to do the concert in Milan and the producers found out about it.

The only reason to be suspended is perhaps she pulled a sickie in order to do the concert in Milan and the producers found out about it. From further reading, Chanel was brought in on "very short notice" for the Stones gig after their regular backing singer fell ill. It sounds as if she may have flown out that very day.

Though I can't fathom why anyone would try and get away with such a thing. Well, just three shows left... she'd be looking at a big pay day, a chance to perform in a sold out stadium with a legendary band, increase her profile... IF this is what happened, I don't know what she would hope to gain though by making it public on social media. She's still listed on the website - surely her understudy could've just quietly finished her run and I'm sure the producers had no intention or anything to gain by taking this public.

This is so sad to read. Not only is she an incredible Tina (like, wow), having met her recently she is also such a humble and lovely lady. I wish her all the best.

Wow, popped back on here after a day or two away and there’s plenty of tea in this thread! Having seen the Stones a few years back I’ve followed the new tour online, and watched a recording of Chanel performing Gimme Shelter with the band on Tuesday. First impression was I could immediately see why she makes/made such an amazing Tina as she looked and sounded exactly like Tina in the 70s. She tore up her lines in Gimme Shelter and looked like she was loving it!
It’s suggested on a Stones forum that Sasha may have got Covid and had to pull out of the Milan show, hence the band needing a stand in at the last minute. The general consensus is she was even better than Sasha, and several fans wondering if Chanel will perform with them at Hyde Park on Saturday.
I just watched it and thought ‘good for you, what a gig to get’, but then really interesting to come on here and see what’s happened at Tina. Surely she never thought she’d get away with being ‘sick’ and going off to do this? Or maybe she asked the producers if she could pull out of her final shows to go do the Stones gig and they said no? So she did it anyway? Would love to know the truth behind it all!

There seems to be a pattern emerging of some performers just treating their roles as negotiable that they can just pick up and drop off as they please when something better comes along.
I wonder if it's related to both. She was denied the chance to do that performance so when the Rolling Stones came along she just went anyway and pulled a sickie.

Seems like she was often trying to chop and change her schedule and perhaps management did a schedule change to spite her.

Something causing a delay here at Tina tonight! 8:05pm and still not started, with minimal announcements except an apology for the delay. Bar was reopened about 20 mins into the delay. Some people starting to leave due to last trains.

Ultimately tonight’s performance was cancelled.
There were minimal announcements besides a couple of apologies for the delay. At 8:25pm it was announced that the performance would start at 8:40pm ending at 11:15pm with refunds available for anyone who left. I’d guess the shorter runtime would come from a reduced interval?
Minutes before 8:40pm there were announcements to take seats. After 8:45pm the audience started chanting/cheering for the performance to start. Finally at 8:50pm someone appeared on stage to announce that tonight’s performance would be cancelled. There wasn’t any particular reason given (other than they now wouldn’t have time to finish the performance), the announcement was brief with heckling from a very frustrated audience.
Something clearly wasn’t right behind the scenes - I’m very curious!

Has anything come to light about what happened? Nope! Still very curious what was going on. Quite poor communication all round from the Aldwych, but can't fault the quick refund the next day.

Having wanted to see this for years and managing to do so at last for Saturday's matinee, I was amazed to find that there had been no comments whatsoever for over 5 months; I actually had to resort to the search function (at least it worked, for once) to find the thread. This seems to me mystifying for a long-running and clearly - based on Saturday's apparently full house - still very popular musical and given that other long-runners (or old warhorses?) are still the subject of regular posts. Can anyone please explain this?
Frustratingly, I still don't even know who was performing the lead role as the website gives only one name and no details of alternates or dates/performances the actor is not scheduled to work.

Elesha Paul Moses normally does Tuesday, Thursday matinee, Friday, Saturday evening
Kristina Love normally does Wednesday, Thursday evening, Saturday matinee, Sunday
You probably saw Kristina who originated the role in Hamburg and is wonderful from what I’ve heard

I'm planning a trip to London and will see Tina again just to experience Kristina Love. This time in English. She was brilliant in German. Was, for me, as close to seeing Tina herself.

The matinee yesterday was full of emotion. Curtain rose before the show with all the cast and crew stood on the stage and an acknowledgement made of Tina having passed away, and a moments silence.
There's no other word to describe Elesha Paul Moses as Tina other than Outstanding. She had the look, the voice, the everything. She gave it her all and more. The finale was particularly energetic and a real celebration of Tina.
Outside of the theatre, lots of flowers, along with a small sign - "Keep telling her story".

From a crassly commercial perspective, I'm intrigued to see if Turner's death prolongs the life of this show, in the same way that Thriller Live thrived when Michael Jackson died.

I don't think it's a like for like comparison. Thriller was on the verge of closing when Michael Jackson died which caused ticket sales to increase.
