I much preferred Zara when I saw it, but one of my friends worships Miriam.

A shame to lose Alex Thomas-Smith as well. Just realised Joe Foster played one of the infamous gimp-dogs in Legally Blonde, hopefully this will be a more rewarding role for them…

I wonder where Doubtfire is going then. as that's where the theatre was rumoured for. I can't see them waiting for September 23 for the west end premire.

An extension to September 2023 seems very ambitious, what with the current sales not exactly setting the world alight.

So this is looking good then? New costumes, fresher look, fresher Juliet. So pleased it looks like its going to work on Broadway.

I'm surprised they're releasing a Broadway Cast album.

I wonder if they’re changing the humour for a US audience because I thought it was very “British” and verging on a bit panto occasionally, although it always stayed just on the right side.

I think that was probably my only disconnect. Sometimes the humour was modern and quite wry (Siper Dope! 🤣) but then broad and bawdy, snd panto like. Maybe Elizabethan? Good luck to them anyway; she’s fab.

Funnily enough the book is written by an American.

No, I'm pretty sure that Bill Shakespeare was English. You can visit the house where he was born, and everything!

At the show now to see the three new cast members. They’ve introduced two minor dialogue changes. I’m guessing these were changes made for Broadway and they’re aligning the scripts across the productions.

Shakespeare‘s line just before I Kissed A Girl where we says “to give this plot a twist” has been changed.
The other one was May’s line before Domino where they say “flirt with random foreign guys”. That has changed (A May line has changed but not 100% that’s the lime But I think it is)

I'd see it again if she was in it, wouldn't touch another viewing with Miriam with a ten foot pole. I've rarely disliked a lead character so much, and I think it was all her performance/attitude that made me dislike Juliet.

UK tour to be announced, should hopefully do very well if they market it well. Will miss this wonderful show.

“Incredible 3.5 years?” They’re just going to pretend covid never affected them then?
I liked it in Manchester, and was thinking of seeing it again but could never find a decent rush ticket. Will hopefully give it another go on the tour.

Will hopefully give it another go on the tour. The combined run is probably closer to 18 months than 3 and a half years. You can't say in a press release, you've done 3.5 years if you weren't open for 18 months of that.

Sad news but I guess it’s had a good run.

Agreed the “3.5 years” thing is clearly false but they’re certainly not the only ones doing it, Come From Away and Dear Evan Hansen did the same when they posted their closing notices.

So happy we saw this back in June on the first night of our London visit (about six hours after arriving in London from Heathrow). What a joyous time (and thank you to the very very very nice Box Office manager).
