Saw this last night and absolutely loved it! What a feel good show with heaps of talent on that stage. Miriam Teak-Lee has an astonishing voice. I saw her as Angelica in Hamilton but last night she blew me away even further. I even said to my friend in the interval "I wish I could be that cool" haha.
All of the cast were fab, there isn't anyone I thought to be weaker. As others have said the budget for special effects and staging must be high but it totally works and adds to the fun and energy.
Would go back and see this in a heartbeat. I really hope it has a decent run as the show and cast deserve it.

Well I just loved this. It’s obviously lower budget than Moulin Rouge (which I saw last week) but this had oodles of feeling and was beautifully performed and I enjoyed it more. I felt that the songs were used to great effect and I didn’t have the feeling that trying to spot them took me out of the show, which I had had last week. I loved all the cast, who were clearly having a ball. I think it’s just what we need in these times and could have something of the same effect that Mamma Mia did.

^Agree with the two posters above,it’s a feel-good show in feel-bad times! Me too! Although it was less spectacular than I was expecting (don't get me wrong, the lighting and staging is still spectacular) it was the charm in the story and feel good factor that really blew me away the (now 3) times that I've been. Next trip in two weeks, can't wait :-) Perfect antidote to Brexit and political hell we are currently in!

I saw it last night and I loved it to bits. It was just so much fun; I grinned all the way through the show.
As everyone already said it: strong cast, energetic routines, good diction and sound system, spectacular effects and fun costumes. Oh the costumes. I want juliet's jumpsuit and romeo's pink shirt.
Audience was fab too. No bad behaviour but appreciative claps, hands up, laughs and such at the right places.
Did I already mention I loved it??
Disclaimer: I dislike most of the original songs. Not my style, not my vintage. I didn't recognise most of them, if I didn't know it was jukebox I could've been fooled into believing most was written for Juliet. Basically it sounded fresh to me. I hate jukebox as a rule and I only went to see this due to this forum.

Didn't dislike the original songs, rather was completely indifferent to them. But it's testimony to the writing of this show that I also could have been fooled into believing most was written for & Juliet. And given more of an MT feel they sound great. In this way it reminds me a bit of Our House which I also could have believed was a fully original musical with the songs written for the show. In my top 3 jukebox musicals, with this and Mamma Mia. (Off topic - such a shame every subsequent version of Our House got cheaper and cheaper. The original at the Cambridge with that constantly folding automated set was epic).

Haha - I don't really think of Bat as jukebox as Steinman always intended the songs to be part of this project (plus other than three they were all completely new to me so never really associated them with anything else!)

Bat had a good innings - twice.

I thought I posted this yesterday but now can’t see it! I went Saturday afternoon. I took my 12yro, her nearly 14 yro cousin, my nearly 50 husband and myself....and we all loved it! The songs and plot were cleverly interwoven, and the cast performed it brilliantly. For me, standouts were Cassidy and Miriam. Cassidy had just the right balance of humour, charm and pathos! I would go again in a shot!

While I can’t deny the audience overall appeared to be having a great time, it is not a good show and sits somewhere between Daddy Cool and The Far Pavilions at the top of my list of Shaftesbury Theatre turkeys (and yes, I saw Lautrec). The book is jaw-droppingly bad. I fear the critics will not be kind.
Hats off to Cassidy Janson and Jordan Luke Gage, both in fine fine voice, whose performances somehow elevate the material and who are the only ones to emerge unscathed.
2 stars. Sorry.

Press night tonight. Really hope they are kind as it deserves to do well. I'm predicting a lot of three's. And critics complaining about something to do with it being a ridiculous or necessary rewrite.

The critics can say what they like, but this is a fabulous show and is pure entertainment from start to finish...hoping that they latch on to the feel-good factor that it clearly generates...it is a big-hearted show and deserves to run and run imo.If they hate on it then it will be up to the fans to spread the love via word of mouth.

The concept is good but they do nothing with it. Cassidy J is painfully unfunny and sounds horrible I think. Still at least she’s not playing it with a random Scottish accent. Miriam T L is fine.. she has nothing to work with apart from her puffball skirt. It also had some of the worst singing I’ve ever heard onstage- How did the guy playing May get cast?. Awful. . The design however is brilliant , just a shame more effort wasn’t spent on that book and jokes. Really baffled that people are liking this so much. Melanie La Barrie is way too good to be in this. She was the only thing keeping me from leaving.

Hope it doesn't get slated too badly by critics, it's got some great cast and I'm looking forward to seeing it!
The opening certainly has some big names there, that will be posted online and by other news sources spreading a little buzz.
Hope word of mouth is kind for this one!

It'll be interesting to see how long it runs, I imagine 18 months to 2 years max.

4 stars from Time Out and The Independent
3 stars from The Express and The Arts Desk
Only 2 stars from Michael Billington in The Guardian, but not sure this was ever gonna be a musical for him! 😬
