So I just wanted to share something rather big and potentially life-changing! I have been accepted in the Masters of Fine Arts program at Columbia University in New York. Out of around 40, they enroll about 8-10 a year, so I feel very honored to have made it. It's a dream come true. The program looks at the creative and business of the Broadway industry (and recently introduced an international element), the management/administration of a theatre company, producing shows and the new frontiers of the industry. There are three required internships at production companies across NY (and possibly the US or overseas), and the program has a special agreement with the Shubert Organization and others for the students' placement. The Co-Chairs of the program are Steven Chakelson (Tony Award-The Band's Visit) and Victoria Bailey (Executive Director - Theatre Development Fund). Other notable faculty members include Thomas Schumacher, Head of Disney Theatricals and many other leaders in the industry. My area of focus will be First Class productions in emerging markets as well as technological disruptions in theatre. Huge hugs and thank you's to my pal and theatre wife of 20+ years, viserys (yes, we've known each other since the '90s) who's helped me form and finesse my ideas time and time again during the application period. Can't wait to host you in my shoebox of a studio in New York So here we are kids! We're packing our bags and moving to NY in the summer to pursue the dream!

Oooh, how fabulous! Congratulations. You're exactly sassy enough to be a New Yorker. It even impressed Shania much!

Promise you'll send us reports from NYC. You will have a blast!
(Many years ago, I had a shoebox apartment on 7th and 23rd - still think of it with affection.)
