I am going in 2 weeks to see John Owen Jones and will be happy whoever is on, it is the show I want to see. I am going 2 weeks later with a friend who only wants to go because Alfie is in it. She wants to see Alfie. We have bought those tickets to see Alfie.
I'll still be happy whoever is on but I know she (at least initially) will not be. I get why people would be upset. Especially if he is missing shows due to other work (other than pre-announced missed shows)

I must admit, I did wonder yesterday if JOJ might get into trouble over the running tally. It doesn’t bother me in the slightest, but it does rather show up the star’s absences (someone on Twitter said yesterday John had basically done half of the shows so far; I have no idea of the maths on that though). I imagine the likes of CamMack might not be too happy about it, even if Alfie doesn’t care.
As for the relentless social media push on the Boe & Ball show, yes, of course the messages are being pushed out by the company rather than the guys themselves. But for a PR firm they show an astonishing disregard for ‘other things that are happening in the background that might affect this promotion’ - namely, that increasing numbers of their would-be audience are turning into teed-off people who’ve forked out for the star (often plus travel and hotel tickets) in Les Mis but haven’t seen him, for reasons that sometimes unfortunately look a bit suspicious. And that starts to look a bit arrogant. After a while, it may also start to hit sales.
Mind you, the social media messages are generally greeted by silly, sycophantic responses - so whadda I know?!

I've no problem with him saying he's on for Alfie, it's quoting the number of shows that gets me. To me it comes across as having a dig. ...he's been keeping count since show #1! How can one's personal journalling offend anyone? 😂 But yeah... Alfie should have a word with his PR person/Twitterbot, his socials are not reflecting well on him

The 1st concert was on 10th August, so up until last Friday it's been on for 10 weeks. If John Owen-Jones was scheduled to do 3 shows a week, then he should have been on as JVJ 30 times, but at that point had done 35. I'm not sure this is 100% correct, but don't think it's far wrong... I've been lucky enough to see the concert twice & saw Alfie both times, though I wouldn't have minded seeing JOJ had he been unable to perform, as I've seen him in concert & think he's great too.

JOJ started the count from the beginning, long before any absences, and has kept it going, it is in no way a dig.

I would imagine it’s more to do with being the person who’s played the role (and Phantom?) in the West End more than anyone else. Carrie recently posted she’d passed her 1000th performance in the show.

Re standing tickets. How do you get these? Can you buy in advance or just on the day? If on the day online or in person? Also, how much are they? Thanks for any help.

I have booked standing spots online before. They cost less than 20 pounds each. But I was told they are available only for sold-out shows.

Earlier in the run, they were releasing them online a few days in advance. I think we decided it was about half in advance and half on the day. Don't know if that's still the case.

I'm looking for November and the only ones available are a limited view for £97.
For that price you should be able to see everything.

Not 100% certain but I think they come up a week or 2 before the actual show (only for sold-out performances like miz said), that's how I got my tickets for a show early Oct. Try checking the website again closer to the date? I think standing tix are a great deal, it gives you a front-on view of the stage (and no heads blocking!!) so you don't have to look at the line-up of actors from an angle; the downside of course, is that you can't see the orchestra or projections, or actors sitting near the top of the set. But that's a small price to pay... literally.

Were there any further rumours about whether this is being recorded for CD or DVD/Blu-ray?!

Dawn & Ken are currently on a trial separation thanks in part to Alfie’s continued absences. Ken appears to be to blame in some completely rational not at all pre-menopausal way. Poor Ken. Poor Dawn. Glaxo want to pull their finger out getting them patches back into pharmacies.

How did JOJ get from the Pointless studio to the theatre in time?

Ah...well, he was there by 18:30-ish. Maybe the studio was very close to the theatre which is in Euston?
