At a quick glance, these amount of shows currently still showing availablity are:
August (8 Performances) September (20 Performances) October (17 Performances) November (17 Performances)
When the little darlings go back to school, there is more availability. 😂

These sales do illustrate quite nicely how as an MT fan what you are desperate to go to can be completely at odds with what Joe Public wants. And indeed what a little bubble this community is.
Last night at Queen's - to me a historic end of an era occasion - plenty of tickets available. But a concert with probably minimal (if any) set and staging but Alfie Boe's name attached - multiple sold out performances less than a week on sale.

Unless you are on a board like this would you really know when the "last" performance is?
Whereas if you are a fan of Ball, Boe or CHF you can't help but be inundated by Facebook and Twitter that the concerts are happening.
Also, I think most fans won't see the significance of the close and will see it as the show continuing. If it was the last ever show it would have sold out in a flash.

I quite agree that the current Queen’s run ending isn’t a big deal imo. Not making me jump to buy a ticket. Whereas if it was the official closing of the show I’d jump to get a ticket. And I expect that’s why so many tickets are still available ....

The more I think about this, the more I dread what stage door will be like of an evening...

I went to Chess stage door once before the show (yes I know, but couldn't go afterwards) and around thirty of the Michael Ball online fanclub arrived, some wearing tshirts of his. I ended up having a lovely chat with one of them who was one of the moderators and she was telling how busy she was kept with it frequently kicking off between Boe and Ball fans and how some of the members just went so ott following him around. It was fascinating.
No matter what the age of the fan base it seems the issues are still the same!

With MB and AB playing (and filling) arenas, I bet Cam Mack is kicking himself he did not charge more for the tickets!!! I wonder if some have been withheld for later release at extortionate prices?

Was just going to say it looks like all Boe shows are sold out. I'd rather see John Owen Jones but can only justify it at all as a second show when I'm up anyway for Mary Poppins. Oh well, wonder if it will extend?

Miss Ball looks like she's just seen someone place a cake on the buffet table and is working out how to get there before anyone else does.

I'm going to see John Owen Jones 😍 I must admit, I didn't know Alfie Boe was so popular, I wouldn't know him if I fell over him 😂Also want to see CHF of course, and I do like Michael Ball (never seen him in the theatre, though I do remember watching him rehearsing a song at my dance studio when I was about 12!)

Maybe they're trying to push sales towards the JOJ shows for a while? Or Alfie has pulled out already, so they've taken his shows off sale while they do some crisis management. 😉

I know they can't guarantee any actor's appearance, but this would not be a case of illness; this would be a very important cast alteration in an (as advertised) All-Star concert. Do you think they would offer full refund?

You'd get a refund if you booked an Alfie Boe concert and he didn't turn up.
This isn't an Alfie Boe concert though.

Can I just clarify that I don't really think that is the case - I was kind of being sarcastic. It would be bizarre if Alfie were to pull out just one week after the announcement (and six months before the scheduled concerts).
I'm interested to know who will be playing Javert the days Michael Ball is off, and how those dates were selling.

The dates when Michael Ball is absent do not seem to be on sale. The dates when Alfie Boe is absent are on sale, with availability.

Maybe everyone is under estimating the draw of Alfie Boe and the tickets are sold. He has a huge social media following and I think people who normally don't go or go rarely to musicals or the West End would've booked tickets.

This is a concert where you pay to see certain stars, not a normal production and it's not a case of the lead being off sick, they would have actually pulled out completely so there's no chance of getting the product as advertised Alfie has a decent following but only 28k followers on Instagram which is less than ramin karimloo for example which surprised me. Alfies Twitter is better numbers. They have basically cast 3 leads with crazy loyal fanbases and those fans generally have a decent disposable income

The way they've advertised it, most people will go not just for the show, but also to see a certain performer (and some of these are legends), and have booked a certain date accordingly (alternate schedule has been there from day one).

I don't disagree that he is a big draw, and I'm sure all of his performances will sell out. However, not overnight - there was availability for a lot of his dates yesterday, and now not a single seat?

I'm sure there will be a line in the T&Cs that they cannot guarantee the appearance of any artist at any performance.
