my guess, a lot is common sense I think but hey ho!! Cinderella - A pop star (possibly American) Ugly Sisters - two female comedians (French and Saunders as suggested or in my dreams Saunders and lumley) Fairy Godmother - I imagine an older English actress such as Barbara Windsor I agree with this hugely. I think an American pop star would be a good Cinderella and a old British national treasure would be a good Fairy Godmother. I'd love to see French and Lumley but French and Saunders is good too - if they can get these two, then loads of people would want to see it!

The reality Cinderella - Katie Price Ugly Sisters - Craig Revel Horwood and Christopher Biggens Fairy Godmother - Claire Sweeny Ugh..... Luckily Craig Revel Horwood is booked for Bromley and Claire Sweeney is doing Chitty Chitty Bang Bang in Salford. Katie Price did do her first panto last year in Woking so it is a possibility...

Bloody hell Craig. Peter Pan AGAIN? It was terrible the first time I saw it two Christmases ago.
I would love to see Jennifer Saunders live in anything (I've seen both of the most 'recent' French and Saunders tours), but I really don't think she'd commit to do such a regular performance schedule as a pantomime.
Mel and Sue should be free around then, and Mel was great as the evil stepmother a few years back in Hammersmith.

They wouldn't hire Katie as Cinderella... with the Evil Queen last year, it is a smaller role, not too demanding etc, so it doesn't matter that she can't really sing. But you have to be able to hold a tune if you are playing Cinders haha!

My mum said Nadia Sawalha mentioned on loose women she had a project at Christmas but she don't think she explored it. If she is free ( which is unlikely as she probably wouldn't hint) could it be her and her sister Julia as the step sisters?

I don't think Nadia would be top of the wish list

could it be her and her sister Julia as the step sisters Now that would be interesting. Like many boys of my generation, I really fancied Linda Day in "Press Gang"... and it proved she could really play comedy at a young age, even before Ab Fab. Likewise. Definitely an early crush of mine

I sense a return to the stage for Martine McCutcheon as Cinderella.
Back and ready to show the rabble of London's glitzy West End how to turn up to two, possibly three shows per week at a stretch in style!

Amanda Holden has been cast as the Fairy Godmother. I liked her in Shrek so am not too bothered about this casting, Barbra Windsor would of been a lot more of a happy surprise though!

I've no problems with Amanda Holden, but that's a rather uninspired piece of casting. How long is the run overall? Presume there's another Fairy Godmother in the works after Amanda's 5 weeks are up?

I believe the whole show is running for just 5 weeks, unless they choose to extend by another week or two, dependant on venue availability. They can't really run a Christmas-themed show too much longer haha!

Babs would have been a nice link to the last Palladium panto, but Amanda is an OK choice. She'll certainly look the part.

Baz's wording made it sound like she was playing the role for just 5 weeks of the whole run, don't know why he specified! But yes you're right - and you have a good point there! haha.

Hahaha, I got confused when I first saw it too, and once you brought it up, had to re-read it to make sure I knew what I was going on about!

Unless he is hinting at a small extension? How is it selling?

Decent casting. As a side note Does hint that she is leaving BGT through as they usually start filming first week of Jan I wonder when the step sisters and Cinderella herself will be announced?

BGT auditions usually start mid or late January so it'll probably be straight after the panto has finished.

I quite like her but I certainly wouldn't rush out to see her in this role. Also, I prefer my Fairy Godmothers a bit older.
