*Sobs into appliquéd handkerchief* (which is the only thing that should ever be appliquéd.)
They will all fall apart without her. She was their glue.
Moment of the series - Joe in semi-floss pose drifting past in the background, wearing Riccardo's jacket.

That coat Ricardo made was fab. He is a proper tailor. I love this programme and my own sewing skills extend to the emergency safety pin!

I love the programme but I'm getting a little annoyed with the obvious editing - same with bake off. The editing flags up who is going to be eliminated pretty early on and definitely when they say "and the contestant we are losing is.....". It's sooo predictable. Once you notice what they do it's impossible to avoid it. I wont spell it out for those who haven't noticed. I'm not usually that observant. Oh and the "how long do we have left?" followed immediately by a time check. Very repetitive. Ok I take it all back. In the other programmes they show the loser in a panic during the show and then when Joe says “the person leaving the competition IS...” they cut to that person. THEY DIDNT DO IT THIS WEEK. I was totally wrong footed. Ricardo’s coat has to be garment of the series.

This show is so relaxing. Love it so much.
Esme said something that piqued my interest. When they were describing the gotchas in the worker’s jacket challenge, Esme said that the collar was ‘the first bit of tailoring’ that the contestants were being asked to do.
What’s the distinction between tailoring and sewing? What is it about a collar that makes it tailoring?

I’m no expert but I think tailoring is jackets and coats and suits, so combo of the style and the fabric. Also dressmaking for gals and tailoring for fellas?

He's sadly no longer around to ask, but my grandad, a tailor all his working life, would probably say that sewing is 'just' joining two pieces of fabric together with needle and thread. Tailoring, on the other hand, is cut, and fit, and style, etc.
After all, nobody goes to Savile Row to buy curtains!

Why is the music on shows like this so annoyingly impishly twee and quirky? And why does it even need music?

"And Esme, remember, the lions are more scared of you than you are of them."
Baby feeding blouse.
Peplums. (Pepli?)
Just wonderful. Though I did think Paddy looked out of proportion today - jacket too long, trousers too Simon Cowell and the colours didn't match on my telly.

I was really surprised by tonight's results. I had Jen to be the winner. Leah should have gone IMO.
Ricardo for the win!

I was really surprised by tonight's results. I had Jen to be the winner. Leah should have gone IMO. Ricardo for the win! Me too, and I think Jen's face showed she thought she'd be staying longer too. The fact that Jen did the best job on the most technical pattern challenge should have counted for something. The disappointing origami thing did for her, unfortunately - although I went off her massively at her obvious shock at being told she's out. I can't warm to Leah - too scatty, week in week out .... Ricardo is a charming person, he's my favourite to win now. As an aside - lots of film of Bermondsey Street - often see shots of my office and keep pausing to look at the people in case it's one of my colleagues. It's really lovely working here.

It's really lovely working here. I bet. It's one of my favourite bits of London. When I get that Euromillions jackpot win and look for a London home, that's where it'll be. Despite the loss of the nice Italian cafe on the way down to the White Cube, which did excellent coffee. Also I notice the Short Wave cinema bar has changed but it better still have that delightful little auditorium with reclaimed cinema seats and random mismatched chairs. I gather Ruth Wilson lives in the area. Ever seen her? Huh? Huh? Have you? Well??!!!

How is Leah still there? By far the weakest of the top 5/6. Better stitchers have gone, yet she remains.
Track record should be part of it.
Bah.

I think when you start getting not one but two loving close ups of someone’s shoes it becomes clear that it’s about the personality as much as the sewing. Jen was a bit too ‘grey’ I suppose.

Jen and Janet are both far better stitchers and it was a shame to see them leave
Leah has been bottom 2 far too often to be worthy of a final place
Ricardo's last two garments have both been stunning. The tweed coat was amazing and I loved the origami top - really beautiful.
Compared to the others, Leah's origami was hardly noticeable. The collar needed to display itself with more flair to show the folded nature of the construction and the front panel really wasn't origami enough - but none of that seemed to matter. It was just a spotty top with some stripes - none of the complexity of the others.
I wasn't that impressed with the yellow spiral thing either. It lacked crispness. And I would have left the hole - it wasn't on a nipple! Seeing it would have been more honest about the construction and been visually more interesting.

I love that kind of subtleness - You get it in 30s/40s menswear - looks like any old jacket but is so well cut it is stunning. I also like it when the lining has great care and attention paid to it. Having said that Leah should have gone and Riccardo's work is just on another level.

Leah's always struck me as someone who got lost on the way to the Bake Off tent.
Much as I loved Riccardo's coat, I find him a bit too inconsistent, even if he has improved enormously throughout the series and would be a worthy winner.
However, Juliet is my winner (despite the yellow nursing mother horror) as she has always put out gorgeous stuff, sticking to the brief and is innovative in her designs.

Mmm, disappointing final for me, just glad Leah didn't win as she couldn't follow a pattern to save her life. Well done to the winner

Well deserved win, that waistcoat was fab and the red dress everything a red carpet dress should be. What a talented trio though.
