This is exciting! I hope this doesn’t go the same way as Stagecon.

This is exciting! I hope this doesn’t go the same way as Stagecon. I'm sure it won't. This seems more on the lines of the west end bake off. Plus it's charity so performers are always very generous with their time.

Great timing. I’m down that weekend for a theatre binge for my birthday. I’ll pop over before the Saturday matinee.

Excellent - sticking that in the calendar now to make sure I'm free!

Hello,
I do apologise if this is already a thread, searched and couldn't find one.
Just wondering if anyone went to the first West End Flea Market today, any reviews of how it went, what was on offer? Would be great if they could build it to be like the broadway Flea Market one day!

I was there. You couldn't move - it was so packed. Some stalls you couldn't get near because of the crowds around them . Total waste of time going.

I much prefered WE Bake Off it was a much more relaxed atmosphere. This was like being involve in a some sort of weird scavenger hunt and everyone just ran and pushed people out the way. It was so uncomfortable and also really expensive. There probably was stalls with things on that weren't but even then by the time you got anywhere near it had sold out. By the time I got out of one area I wasn't going to queue up for the other side and just left. I wont go next year. Which is a shame because its for a good cause but just way too miss managed.

I had completely forgotten it was happening as originally I wasn't going to be in London so I didn't take any effort to learn the date of it. However this morning I saw it was happening and was tempted to go but it was already 11, I then saw that it looked awfully busy online and decided if there was anything there I had been interested in it would have gone by the time and it looked awfully crowded as you've confirmed, very happy I didn't waste my time on it then.

The stalls were split across two zones and you had to queue for both. Plenty of people disregarding the queueing system and entering via the exits (should've had someone stationed there), stalls were too overcrowded (especially Hamilton, show posters and programmes), and some of the merchandise on offer weren't the most exciting. Phantom had sold out by the time I arrived (just after 11:00) and Les Mis were selling old books.
Spotted quite a few faces there, including Bonnie Langford. Hamilton's Tarinn Callender was there for autographs and photos for at least an hour, and still doing so by the time I left!

I was going to go on my lunch break but had a look on Twitter and seen mentions of long queues so didn't bother as I wouldn't have had time. A shame, but I don't really need to be spending more money on theatre stuff.

Anyone been to this before? What sort of things do they sell and does it all get snapped up in a few minutes?

Sounds interesting, but also a complete nightmare. Imagining a Black Friday-style scenario, only with girls dressed as Heathers fighting over stuff.

I went last time. Very crowded & didn't buy anything. Not going to bother this time.

I hope they at least "suggest" mask wearing...something like this could bring down a lot of town in one fell swoop

Anyone been to this before? What sort of things do they sell and does it all get snapped up in a few minutes? I preferred the bake-off because you didn't have to be there before it opened to get any of the really good stuff. Last time for the flea market I was there before opening, but not early enough to be at the front of the queue, which meant that I saw the last costume shirt worn by my favourite character snatched up right before my eyes, and I bought the last prop goblet. So if you're after actual show memorabilia, be prepared to be in the queue before the flea market opens.
Other stuff which they could produce in bigger numbers just for the market were available even as the market filled - Hamilton had done special prints I think, and printed cotton bags, and some shows had printed special shirts. A few stalls still had cake as well. The stalls with show posters were also still around.

I preferred the bake sale because if you arrived 10 minutes before it was closing they would all reduce the price of their cake dramatically just to get rid of it before they rushed to their matinées. You could get masses of cake for pennies! 😄
