Hi everyone. Firstly I'd like to introduce myself as I am new to this board. I'm Jo, I'm 32 and I am based in Bristol. I'm predominantly a theatre producer and I have recently started a masters in creative producing. I'm so glad to have found a theatre board based in the UK in order to discuss theatre. I was hoping that rather than discuss what was on I could ask all you theatre-goers, lovers and makers a question! I'm researching collaborative theatre. In researching it I found time and again that it is difficult to define collaborative theatre, because all theatre-making involves some degree of collaboration. However, plenty of companies identify as collaborative in nature. For example, Frantic Assembly, DV8, Complicitie, Théâtre du Soleil and plenty more. So my question, and I would be interested to read literally any and all answers to this, is - What makes theatre 'collaborative'?I would be incredibly grateful for your opinions, and am keen to hear what the general consensus is. Thank you all for your time and I look forward to being a member of this board Jo x

Hi @theatremonkey ! Thanks for your contribution! It's interesting because all of the companies that I'm researching work in such different ways, and moving into my research project even I had more of a straightforward assumption about the work. These definitions help me because I will be looking to find any evidence that supports of challenges these assumptions and then I can conclude what the majority consensus seems to be. All of my findings will be made public as I am building this into an open-source blog.
