I aaw the matinee and thought Craig Ryder was excellent, and preferred him to Clive. I quite liked Liisi too, but preferred Tanisha who I saw the first time.
Unfortunately, Jamie cracked at least 3 times on high notes and was weak generally apart from Roxanne which was his best part of the show.

I saw this for the first time on Thursday with a standing seat. Not too sure who was on, but they did well. The view is perfect too (so much so that a couple downgraded from the premium Dress Circle seats during the interval so they could see better - and also so they could dance).
Can't say I loved the show, but glad I've finally got to see it (and that I didn't go for the expensive seats).

Does it have to be sold out for the standing tickets to be available? How do you buy them?

Does it have to be sold out for the standing tickets to be available? How do you buy them? They're only bookable on the ATG site, usually in the afternoon. I think I booked about 3:30pm. I don't think it was completely sold out, but very close.

Yes, they’re only available on the day as far as I know.

I've done standing seats twice and both times I bought them online. Once at around 12pm on a Saturday for the evening show and once at about 4pm on a Thursday. From my experience, they only put the standing seats on sale if the show is sold out. Other seats may pop up again from returns, but they won't put up the standing seats online unless the show was at one point totally sold out. I've tried going to the box office in person to ask for standing seats and they said they wouldn't sell them unless the show was sold out (even though in that one particular instance there was literally 1 £85 seat remaining). But yes, I would agree the standing seat view is probably better than some of the grand circle seats since you're actually a bit closer. You do miss Satine's entrance with the overhang in the way though.

This feels like a really high budget show let an amateur acting group use their set for the night. The plot is wafer thin, the acting is the most underwhelming I can remember seeing on a West End stage, and some of the vocals had me wincing. I felt absolutely nothing for any of the characters. When a character dying is great because you know the show's about to end, that is a very bad sign... The ensemble, admittedly, were giving it their all and really doing a wonderful job - especially in the act two opener, but they couldn't make up for the pitiful showing from most of the leads. And shoehorning in every popular lyric they could think of just doesn't work most of the time. This show wishes it was & Juliet, which shows how to do a jukebox musical with recent pop hits perfectly. Moulin Rouge is just lost and lacklustre in comparison.

After seeing the Olivier production it's still not for me. I want to love it so much!

There are parts to like about the show (though not a huge fan of the opening megamix - which is what they performed at the Oliviers), but having seen it twice, I won't go back unless I know there's a different Christian. Harsh as it may be, I don't want to be sitting there wincing at multiple cracks during high notes and some (at best) very average acting. I cannot believe that there wasn't a better actor/singer who auditioned for Christian.

I always find that strange, they must have amazing talent to pick from!

I still remember the rumours that Rob Houchen would be Christian and I thought he’d be perfect… perhaps at cast change? 🤞🏻

Zoe Birkett is playing Satine on 10th May and both shows on 13th July.

I've heard that Rob was final 3 Christian, but he was shorter than Liisi so they decided not to cast him?

…whose casting is also just as baffling! Why have a pair of vocally meh leads when you have Zoe Birkett in the wings and Houchen chomping at the bit? Stick him in some heels.
Sure, the whole thing is style over substance, but 🙄.

I swear in the film Nicole towers over Ewan sometimes? Absolutely that’s part of the dynamic between them, her stature physically and in terms of reputation dwarfs this nobody writer.

Perhaps Zoe will get promoted, and Rob’ll step in come November when presumably there will be a cast change. If Clive and Jason stay on too I’d be booking a second visit in a heartbeat…

Gutted for anyone who was scheduled for today. There's little that could be done but I know how much it hurts. We had a show cancelled in December and because of dynamic pricing couldn't afford the new seats. ATG tried to resolve it but it was taking forever so we just booked again when more dates were released, just don't do what we did and jump at the first tickets you see if you book a hotel, we did this and our usual Hub room which costs £50 a night had shot up to £240 a night !! I don't know what's going on in London that weekend but it's going to be busy !!

I was there Thursday for my second viewing. Still a technically good show and quite the spectacular but the audience at times were just awful, some really bad behaviour and lots of people getting quite drunk.
Highlight - row C, towards the end, Satine does her thing to Christian and all we heard was this woman say “what a bitch”. I’m sure the cast heard as they seemed to take a second….
Still don’t think there’s much chemistry between the leads and I’m not a fan of Christian, don’t think he is strong enough, however the Duke still does it for me and plays it well.
