That simply is not true. You may or may not find the sound she produces attractive, but she is not physically incapable of singing. Lol. Well I mean it’s sort of true as I said I knew everyone would disagree ;-) I understand most people found it the ultimate star turn. I just didn’t get it! These things can only ever be subjective.... OK, compared to me she can sing, but her voice is weaker, has a smaller range and is less reliable than your average ensemble member on a West End stage. To me, this epitomised the erstwhile fallen star, the final flicker of the last constellatory giant of a bygone era. There was painful truth and powerful vulnerability, which to me deserves to be given the same reverence as Robert Stephens "King Lear" or Kenneth Branagh's "Hamlet". It is when acting, reacting and the lines between truth and fiction are suitably blurred that we discover the true talent within. Just my view.

Completely agree. It's so annoying when people dismiss Norma Desmond as some camp drag queen type role. It's a brilliant role for an actress, arguably the female Hamlet of musical theatre roles

And when you look at the rubbishy bootlegs of Glenn’s performance on youtube it never comes across the same. You had to be there, really.

Hmph! 😤 Nice attempt, calling me young lady I don't mind Amanda Seyfried though and Betty isn't that big of a role. Now if they'd let Russell Crowe near any singing role again, that would be a different kettle of fish. Luckily he's too old for Joe and I can't see him as Max...

Yes they should definitely get Pierce Brosnan to play Max...

Gah! You’re all killing me. Stop it.
Efron for Joe Gillis. His singing doesn’t matter, but he still has that youthful bravado (just) when clean shaven. Siobhan Dillon showed what a fantastic voice can do for Betty so a talented non-name or Dove Cameron at a push. Glenn Close has to be Norma. Couldn’t care less if her vocal needs studio boosting and if they need to de-age her a touch so be it. Make it quick though eh?

If they want to assured of award nominations they could get Margot Robbie to play Betty. She just got nominated for a Bafta for waking up, getting in a car, buying a movie ticket and watching a movie...

I saw Glenn Close in SB at the Coliseum a couple of times (and I'm no fan of her or the show) but I found her performance mesmerising. One of the few times in my life I've felt in the presence of a true star. Totally agree. I turned to my friend and said "We are so lucky to witness this..." It was a true star turn. Magical.

I know the world is on pause, but... this isn’t going to happen is it? Can't see it. And on the back of a long line of stage musicals to move hash ups, may be no bad thing. Better to fondly remember the iconic Adelphi production - hard to better.

Better to fondly remember the iconic Adelphi production - hard to better. Some of us were too young/not born when that happened - makes it harder to remember!

If James Corden is in it (as Max?) I shall boil myself alive, chop my arms off, roll myself in glitter, set myself on fire then sing “I’ve come hoooome at laaaaaaaast”.
Cheers.
